Getting your new Realme GT 7 Pro set up with all your old stuff is the first thing you'll want to do. The good news is, whether you're upgrading from another Realme phone, a different Android, or even an iPhone, the process is pretty straightforward. Realme UI 6.0 on Android 15 has the tools built right in to make the switch smooth.
Start the Transfer During Initial Setup
The absolute best time to move everything over is when you first power on your GT 7 Pro. After you select your language and connect to Wi-Fi, you'll hit a screen that says "Copy data." Tap on that, and you'll see your options. You can copy directly from another phone or restore from a cloud backup.
If you have your old phone handy, choose "Copy from another phone." Your new GT 7 Pro will then ask what kind of phone you're copying from. Select either "Android" or "iPhone," and it will guide you through the next steps. I'd start with this method, as it's the most comprehensive.
Use the Phone Clone App for Direct Transfer
Your Realme GT 7 Pro comes with a pre-installed app called Phone Clone. You can also find it on the Google Play Store for your old device if needed. Open the app on both phones. On your new GT 7 Pro, select "This is the new phone," and on your old one, select "This is the old phone."
The app will create a QR code on the GT 7 Pro for your old phone to scan. Once connected via a local Wi-Fi hotspot, you can pick exactly what to transfer. This includes contacts, messages, call logs, photos, videos, audio files, and most of your apps with their data. It's a very reliable method and doesn't use your mobile data.
Restore from a Google One Backup
If your old phone is gone or broken, restoring from a Google backup is your best bet. During the setup of your GT 7 Pro, after signing into your Google account, you'll be shown available backup files from your previous devices. Pick the most recent one.
This will restore your Wi-Fi passwords, call history, device settings, and a list of the apps you had installed. It's a good idea to check that your old phone was backing up properly. On most Android phones, you can go to Settings > Google > Backup to see the last backup time.
Switching from an iPhone to Your Realme
Moving from iOS requires a couple of extra steps, but it's fully supported. During the "Copy data" part of the GT 7 Pro's setup, choose "iPhone" as your source. You'll be prompted to download the "Move to Android" app from the App Store on your iPhone.
Open the app on your iPhone and follow the instructions. It will ask for permission to access your data and then generate a QR code. Scan that code with your Realme GT 7 Pro to establish a direct Wi-Fi connection. You can then select your iCloud content to transfer, like contacts, calendar events, photos, and videos.
Sync Your Google Account Data
A huge amount of your digital life is already tied to your Google account. Simply signing into your account on the new Realme GT 7 Pro will automatically pull in your contacts, calendar, Gmail, and Chrome bookmarks and history. To manage what syncs, go to Settings > Accounts & sync > Google and tap on your account.
This is also where you'll ensure your photos back up to Google Photos. With the GT 7 Pro's capable cameras, you'll want that cloud backup turned on. Open Google Photos, tap your profile picture, and go to Photos settings > Backup & sync.
Transfer WhatsApp Chats
For moving your WhatsApp history from another Android phone, the process is built-in. Make sure both phones are on the same Wi-Fi network. On your old phone, open WhatsApp, go to Settings > Chats > Chat transfer, and tap "Transfer." On your new GT 7 Pro, install WhatsApp, verify your number, and you'll be prompted to scan the QR code shown on your old phone.
If you're coming from iPhone, you'll need to use WhatsApp's "Move chats to Android" feature, which requires a USB-C to Lightning cable to connect the phones directly during the WhatsApp setup process on your Realme.
After Everything is Moved Over
Take some time to go through your apps and make sure everything transferred correctly. You might need to log back into some apps, like social media or banking apps, for security reasons. Game progress is often saved if you were signed into Google Play Games on your old device.
Once you're confident all your data is safe on the new Realme GT 7 Pro, don't forget to wipe your old phone. Go to its settings and perform a factory reset. This protects your personal information before you sell, trade, or recycle the device.
