Switching to your new Infinix Note 40 Pro is exciting, and you definitely don't want to leave your photos, messages, and apps behind. The good news is, moving everything over is pretty straightforward. I'd start with the built-in transfer tool during setup, as it's designed to handle the heavy lifting for you.

Use the XOS Smart Switch During Setup

The absolute easiest time to move your data is when you first turn on the phone. After selecting your language, you'll hit a "Copy data" screen. Tap on it, and you'll see options to copy from another device. Choose whether your old phone is an Android or an iPhone.

If it's an Android, select "A backup from an Android phone" and then "Next". Your new Infinix will create a Wi-Fi hotspot for the transfer. On your old phone, open the Google app and say "set up my device," or go to Settings > Google > Device connections > Set up nearby device. Follow the prompts to connect, and you can pick exactly what to bring over.

For a Lightning-Fast Transfer, Use a Cable

If you have a lot of data or just want the most reliable connection, use the USB cable that came with your old phone. You'll need the USB-C to USB-C cable from your Infinix Note 40 Pro's box and possibly an adapter for your old phone's port.

Connect the two phones with the cable during the setup process. The Infinix will detect the old device and guide you through selecting apps, call logs, messages, photos, and system settings. This method doesn't rely on Wi-Fi speed, so it's often the quickest way to get everything across.

Restore from a Google One Backup

Maybe your old phone is already gone or broken. If you had Google One backups enabled, you can restore from the cloud. During the Infinix's setup, sign into your main Google account. When you get to the restore screen, choose the most recent backup from your previous device.

This will re-download your installed apps and bring back many of your settings. It's a good idea to check your old phone first: go to Settings > Google > Backup to confirm there's a recent backup listed.

Moving from an iPhone to Your Infinix

Switching from iOS? The process is built right in. When you reach the "Copy data" screen on your Infinix, select "iPhone" as your source. You'll be prompted to connect via a cable, you'll need a Lightning to USB-C cable, which isn't included, but any reputable one will work.

Alternatively, you can transfer wirelessly. The tool will move your contacts, calendar events, photos, and videos. Your text messages and iMessage history will come over, too. Remember, iOS apps won't transfer, so you'll need to download their Android versions fresh from the Google Play Store.

Let Your Google Account Handle the Basics

A ton of your important information syncs automatically. As soon as you sign into your Google account on the Infinix Note 40 Pro, your contacts, calendar, Gmail, and Chrome bookmarks will populate. To make sure everything is syncing, go to Settings > Accounts & sync > Google and tap on your account to see all the sync toggles.

Don't Forget Your App Data

For WhatsApp, use its built-in transfer. On your old Android phone, open WhatsApp, go to Settings > Chats > Chat transfer, and follow the steps. For other apps like social media or games, your progress is usually tied to your account login. Sign in on the new device, and your data should load.

For game saves, check if the game uses Google Play Games cloud saves. Open the Play Games app on your old phone to ensure your profile is backed up there before you switch.

Tidy Up After the Move

Once you're sure everything is on your new Infinix Note 40 Pro, take a moment to explore. You might notice some pre-installed apps from XOS. You can disable ads by going to Settings > Smart Service and turning off promotional notifications.

Log into any apps that need fresh authentication, like banking apps. When you're completely settled in, perform a factory reset on your old phone to wipe your personal data before you sell, trade, or recycle it.
