Taking a screenshot on your Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is one of those everyday tasks you'll use all the time. Whether you're saving a funny meme, capturing a flight confirmation, or sharing an error message with tech support, there are more ways to do it than you might think.

Press the Side and Volume Down Buttons

The classic method works perfectly on the S25 Ultra. Just press the Side button and the Volume Down button at the same time, then release them quickly. You'll see a quick animation and hear a shutter sound if your phone isn't on silent. A small toolbar will pop up at the bottom of the screen, giving you instant options to edit or share.

I find this is the most reliable method, especially when you need a screenshot fast. It works from any screen, including the lock screen.

Enable and Use Palm Swipe

This is one of Samsung's signature features and it's incredibly handy once you turn it on. Open Settings > Advanced features > Motions and gestures and toggle on Palm swipe to capture. With this enabled, you simply place the side of your hand vertically on the screen and swipe it across from left to right or right to left.

It takes a little practice to get the motion right, but it's perfect for when you're holding the phone in one hand and can't easily press both physical buttons. Make sure you're using the edge of your palm, not your fingers.

Add a Screenshot Button to Quick Settings

Swipe down from the top of your screen twice to open your full Quick Settings panel. Look for a tile labeled Screenshot. If you don't see it, tap the three-dot menu or pencil icon to edit your tiles, then drag the Screenshot tile into your active panel.

Once it's there, you can take a screenshot with a single tap anytime. This is a great method if you prefer tapping on-screen buttons over using the physical keys or gestures.

Use the Edge Panel for Smart Selections

The S25 Ultra's curved display is perfect for the Edge panels. Swipe in from the right edge to open the panel, then swipe through to find the Smart select panel. This tool lets you capture more than just a full screen. You can take a rectangular snip, a freeform shape, or even record a short GIF of your screen.

To make sure it's enabled, go to Settings > Display > Edge panels and toggle it on. You can then tap "Panels" to add Smart select to your active set. I use this constantly for capturing just a specific part of an image or text.

Ask Google Assistant or Bixby

When your hands are full, just use your voice. Say "Hey Google, take a screenshot" or "Hi Bixby, capture this screen." Your assistant will instantly capture whatever is displayed and save it to your Gallery. This works from most apps and is a real lifesaver when you're cooking or have dirty hands.

Make sure your preferred assistant is set up and listening for the "Hey Google" or "Hi Bixby" wake phrase in its settings for this to work seamlessly.

Capture Long Scrolling Screenshots

This is the best feature for saving entire web pages or long chat threads. After you take a screenshot using any method, look for the toolbar that appears. Tap the button with two downward arrows, which is the Scroll capture feature. Your phone will automatically scroll down and stitch the next section onto your screenshot.

You can keep tapping that button to capture more and more of the page. The S25 Ultra running One UI 8 is particularly good at smoothly stitching these together without glitches.

Edit and Manage Your Screenshots

Immediately after taking a shot, the preview toolbar lets you crop, draw, add text, or share. If you want to do more later, all your screenshots are saved in the Samsung Gallery app. You'll find them in the Albums > Screenshots folder, organized by date.

From the Gallery, you can create shared albums, move shots to Secure Folder, or delete batches you no longer need. The editing tools in Gallery are quite powerful for marking up images before sending them out.

Adjust Your Screenshot Settings

For more control, dive into the dedicated settings menu. Go to Settings > Advanced features > Screenshots and screen recorder. Here, you can change the image format to save space, set where screenshots are saved, or choose to hide the toolbar immediately after capture.

If you find the shutter sound annoying, remember that putting your phone on silent or vibrate mode will mute it. These settings let you tailor the screenshot experience to exactly how you use your phone.
