Taking a screenshot on your Samsung Galaxy S24 is one of those things you'll do all the time, whether you're saving a funny meme, capturing an important detail from a webpage, or sharing an error message with tech support. With One UI 8, Samsung gives you more ways to do it than ever, and some methods are much faster once you get the hang of them.
Press the Button Combo
The classic method works perfectly on the Galaxy S24. Just press the Side button and the Volume Down button together for a brief moment, then release. You'll see a quick animation around the edges of the screen and hear a shutter sound if your phone isn't on silent.
A small toolbar will pop up at the bottom of the screen immediately, giving you quick access to editing tools or the option to capture more of a page.
Enable and Use Palm Swipe
This is one of Samsung's most convenient gestures. First, you need to turn it on. Head to Settings > Advanced features > Motions and gestures and toggle on Palm swipe to capture.
Once it's enabled, simply place the side of your hand vertically against the screen and swipe across from left to right or right to left. It takes a little practice to get the motion right, but it's fantastic for one-handed use.
Add a Screenshot Quick Setting
Swipe down from the top of your screen twice to open your full Quick Settings panel. Look for a tile labeled Screenshot. If you don't see it, tap the three-dot menu or pencil icon to edit your tiles.
You can then drag the Screenshot tile into your active panel. Once it's there, a single tap on that tile will capture whatever is on your display, no buttons required.
Utilize the Edge Panel for More Control
The Edge panel is a powerful tool on the S24. Swipe in from the right edge to open it. You'll want to make sure the Smart select panel is enabled, which lets you capture specific shapes or create GIFs.
To set it up, go to Settings > Display > Edge panels. From there, you can manage your panels and add Smart select. It's perfect for when you only need a rectangle or oval from part of your screen.
Capture an Entire Scrolling Page
This is a game-changer for long articles or chat histories. Take a normal screenshot using any method. When the toolbar appears at the bottom, tap the icon that looks like two downward arrows.
Your phone will automatically scroll down and capture the next section. You can keep tapping that button to continue extending the screenshot until you have the entire content saved in one long image.
Ask Google Assistant
When your hands are busy, just use your voice. Say, "Hey Google, take a screenshot." Your Galaxy S24 will capture the screen instantly and save it to your Gallery.
Make sure Google Assistant is set up and listening for the "Hey Google" command. This method is surprisingly reliable and hands-free.
Edit and Manage Your Screenshots
Right after you take a shot, the preview toolbar lets you draw, crop, or share immediately. If you skip that, all your screenshots are saved automatically.
You can find them in the Samsung Gallery app, usually in an album named Screenshots. From there, you can organize, delete, or edit them further using the built-in photo editor.
Customize Your Screenshot Settings
For more control, dive into the dedicated settings menu. Go to Settings > Advanced features > Screenshots and screen recorder.
Here, you can change options like whether the toolbar appears, the image format, or where files are saved. If you find the shutter sound annoying, just switch your phone to vibrate or silent mode before capturing.
