Taking a screenshot on your Samsung Galaxy A55 is one of those everyday tasks that feels simple, but knowing all the methods can save you a lot of time. Whether you're saving a confirmation email, capturing a funny meme, or documenting an error message, you have more options than just the button combo.

Press the Button Combo

The universal method that works every time is the button press. On your Galaxy A55, press and hold the Side key (the power button) and the Volume Down button at the same time for a brief moment. Release them as soon as you see the screen flash and hear the camera shutter sound.

A small toolbar will immediately pop up at the bottom of your screen. This lets you edit, share, or take a scrolling screenshot right away without having to go to your Gallery.

Enable Palm Swipe to Capture

This is one of Samsung's most convenient gestures, and it's perfect for when you're holding the phone with one hand. First, you need to turn it on. Open your Settings app and go to Advanced features > Motions and gestures.

Find the option for Palm swipe to capture and toggle the switch on. Once it's active, simply place the side of your hand vertically against the screen and swipe across from left to right, or right to left. It takes a little practice, but it becomes second nature.

Add a Screenshot Quick Button

You can add a screenshot shortcut directly to your notification panel for one-tap access. Swipe down from the top of your screen twice to open your full Quick Settings menu. Look for the Screenshot tile.

If you don't see it, tap the three-dot menu icon or the pencil/edit button. This lets you rearrange your Quick Settings tiles. Find the Screenshot tile in the available options and drag it up into your active panel. Now you can just swipe down and tap it.

Use the Edge Panel for Smart Select

The Edge panel is a handy sidebar that gives you quick tools. If you have it enabled, swipe the thin tab on the right edge of your screen to open it. Look for the Smart select panel, which has icons for different capture types.

You can tap to capture a rectangle, an oval shape, or even create a short GIF. This is ideal for when you only need a specific part of the screen. To enable it, go to Settings > Display > Edge panels and toggle it on, then customize which panels appear.

Take a Scrolling Screenshot

This is a game-changer for capturing entire web pages or long chat threads. First, take a regular screenshot using any method. When the preview toolbar appears at the bottom, look for the icon with two downward arrows and tap it.

Your phone will automatically scroll down and capture the next section. You can keep tapping that button to continue extending the screenshot until you've captured everything you need. The final image will be one long, seamless file.

Ask Google Assistant

When your hands are full or the buttons are awkward to press, just use your voice. Say, "Hey Google, take a screenshot." Your Google Assistant will instantly capture whatever is on your display.

The screenshot saves directly to your Gallery. This method works from any screen, as long as your phone is unlocked and listening for the "Hey Google" hotword, which you can set up in the Google app settings.

Edit and Manage Your Screenshots

Right after you take a screenshot, that preview toolbar gives you quick actions. You can tap to crop the image, use the pen tool to draw or highlight, or share it directly to an app.

If you close the toolbar, all your screenshots are automatically saved. You can find them in the Samsung Gallery app. Go to the Albums tab and look for the Screenshots album to see them all in one place.

Adjust Your Screenshot Settings

You can customize how screenshots behave on your A55. Head to Settings > Advanced features > Screenshots and screen recorder. Here, you'll find a few useful toggles.

You can choose to show or hide the floating toolbar after a capture. There's also an option to change the image format. If you want to silence the shutter sound, just make sure your phone's ringtone volume is turned down or set to vibrate mode.
