Screen recording on the Samsung Galaxy A26 5G is built right into One UI 7, so you don’t need any third‑party app. It captures everything from app walkthroughs to video calls and gameplay. Here’s how to use it.
Find the Screen Recorder Tile
Swipe down from the top of the screen twice to open the full Quick Settings panel. Look for the Screen recorder tile. If you don’t see it, tap the + icon (or the pencil icon in some One UI 7 versions) to edit the panel, then drag the Screen recorder tile into your active tiles.
Once you tap the tile, a popup appears asking how you want to capture audio. Pick the option that fits what you’re recording, then tap Start recording.
Choose the Right Audio Setting
You get three choices before the countdown begins. No sound records only the screen with zero audio good for silent troubleshooting or image grabs. Media sounds captures any audio playing on your phone like music, game effects, or in‑app sounds.
For tutorials or video reactions, select Media sounds and mic to record both phone audio and your voice at the same time. After you tap Start recording, a three‑second countdown gives you time to open the app or screen you want to capture.
Use the Floating Toolbar
Once recording starts, a small floating toolbar appears on your screen. It lets you pause and resume, stop, or draw on the display while recording. A timer shows how long you’ve been recording so you don’t go over your desired clip length.
If the toolbar gets in the way, drag it to the edge of the screen it will collapse into a small bubble that you can tap to expand again.
Draw or Annotate During Recording
Tap the pencil icon on the toolbar to start drawing on your screen in real time. You can change pen color and thickness. This is handy for pointing out a specific button or circling an error in a tutorial. The drawing disappears when you tap the icon again or stop the recording.
Stop and Save the Recording
Hit the square stop button on the toolbar, or pull down the notification shade and tap the screen recorder notification to stop. The video automatically saves to the Gallery app under the Screen recordings album.
You’ll also get a brief pop‑up with options to share, trim, or delete the clip immediately.
Edit the Clip in Gallery
Open the Gallery app and navigate to the Screen recordings folder. Tap the video you just recorded, then tap the Edit (pencil) icon. You can trim the start and end points, change playback speed, add background music, or apply a filter. When you’re done, tap Save. The original clip stays unchanged until you overwrite it.
Tweak Screen Recorder Settings
Head to Settings > Advanced features > Screenshots and screen recordings. Here you can adjust the video quality between 1080p, 720p, and 480p. Toggle Show touches and taps on if you want viewer‑friendly visual indicators great for tutorials. You can also set the size of the selfie camera overlay if you ever record while using the front camera.
These settings apply to every future recording, so set them once and forget it.
What Won’t Record
DRM‑protected content from streaming services like Netflix, Disney+, and Amazon Prime will show a black screen during recording. Banking and payment apps also block screen recording for security reasons. Regular apps, games, web browsing, and your own camera footage all record without restrictions.
