Screen recording on your Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge is built right into the system, no extra app needed. Whether you want to capture a game-winning moment, record a video call, or create a quick tutorial, the built-in screen recorder handles it all, including audio from both your device and your voice.
Open the Screen Recorder
Swipe down twice from the top of the screen to fully expand the Quick Settings panel. Look for the Screen recorder tile. If you don't see it, tap the three-dot menu or the pencil edit icon and drag it into your active tiles.
Tap the Screen recorder tile. A popup will appear asking you to choose your audio source before recording starts. On the S25 Edge running Android 15 with One UI 7, the options are clear and straightforward.
Choose Your Audio Source
You get three audio choices. No sound records only the screen video with no audio at all. Media sounds captures audio playing through the phone (game audio, music, app sounds). Media sounds and mic does both, so it records what’s playing on the phone and your voice through the microphone. Pick the one that fits what you’re trying to capture, then tap Start recording.
After you tap start, you’ll see a three-second countdown. Use that time to navigate to the screen you want to record.
Record and Control the Session
Once recording begins, a floating toolbar appears on your screen. It gives you controls to pause, stop, draw on the screen, and shows a live timer so you know how long you’ve been recording. The toolbar is draggable, so you can move it out of the way if it’s covering something important.
You can also use the touch gestures on the S25 Edge's display the screen recorder picks up every tap and swipe naturally. If you want to show off the smooth 120Hz refresh of your phone, this is a good way to do it.
Draw on the Screen While Recording
Tap the pencil icon in the floating toolbar to start drawing. You can choose your pen color and thickness. This is especially useful for tutorials or presentations where you need to highlight a specific area. Drawings appear live in the recording and then disappear after a moment they don’t stick around on your screen.
Stop the Recording
Tap the stop button (a square icon) in the floating toolbar. You can also swipe down to open the notification panel and tap the screen recorder notification to stop. The video saves automatically to your Gallery app, inside a folder called Screen recordings.
Edit the Video
Open the Gallery app, find your recording in the Screen recordings album, and tap it. Tap the Edit pencil icon to trim the beginning and end, adjust the playback speed, add background music, or apply a filter. The built-in editor on the S25 Edge is pretty capable, so you don’t need a third-party app for basic cuts.
Adjust Your Screen Recorder Settings
Go to Settings > Advanced features > Screenshots and screen recordings. Here you can change the video quality between 1080p, 720p, and 480p. You can also choose whether to show taps and touches on the recording helpful for tutorials. If you record using the front camera (picture-in-picture style), you can set the size of that selfie window here.
What You Cannot Record
Like all modern phones, the S25 Edge blocks screen recording on DRM-protected content. Streaming apps like Netflix, Disney+, and Amazon Prime will show a black screen. Banking apps and payment screens also block recording for security. Regular apps, games, your home screen, and anything you create yourself will record without any issues.
