Recording your screen on the CMF Phone 2 Pro is a straightforward way to capture tutorials, gameplay, or video calls. The built-in tool in Nothing OS 3.0 is clean and functional, and I've found it works well for most everyday tasks.

Access the Screen Recorder

Swipe down from the top of your screen twice to open the full Quick Settings panel. Look for the tile labeled Screen record. If you don't see it immediately, tap the pencil icon to edit your tiles and drag the Screen Recorder into your active panel.

Start Your First Recording

Tap the Screen record tile. A small menu will pop up from the bottom of the screen. Here, you can choose your audio source: Device audio captures sounds from your apps and games, Device audio and microphone adds your voiceover, or Microphone only records just your commentary.

You can also toggle Show touches on screen, which is incredibly helpful if you're creating a tutorial. Once your settings are ready, tap Start now. A three-second countdown begins, giving you time to navigate to the app or screen you want to capture.

Stop and Save the Video

To end the recording, swipe down from the top and tap the Stop button in the persistent notification. A red recording indicator is also visible in your status bar, and you can tap that to stop as well. The video file saves automatically to your Gallery app.

Find and Trim Your Recording

Open your Gallery app and look in the "Screen recordings" album or check your main camera roll. Tap on the video to play it back. To edit, tap the Edit button (it often looks like a pencil or sliders).

Use the trimming tool to cut off the beginning and end, removing the moments where you started and stopped the recorder. The built-in editor in Nothing OS is basic but gets the job done for quick cuts.

Record Gameplay with Audio

For recording mobile games, the built-in tool works perfectly. Before you start your game, open the screen recorder and select Device audio and microphone if you want to provide live commentary. Then launch your game and start recording.

The clean, lightweight nature of Nothing OS means screen recording typically doesn't introduce significant lag or performance hits during gameplay, which is a nice advantage.

Understand the Limitations

Due to copyright protection, most premium streaming apps like Netflix, Prime Video, and Disney+ will block screen recording. You'll typically see a black screen or an error message in the recording. Banking and secure payment apps also restrict recording for safety.

Almost everything else is fair game, including web browsing, using social media apps, or recording within other games and utilities.

Share Your Video Easily

Once your recording is ready, open it in the Gallery and tap the Share icon. You can send it directly via WhatsApp, Telegram, or email, or upload it to platforms like YouTube or TikTok. For very long recordings, you might want to trim them first to make the file size more manageable for sharing.

Explore Third-Party Recorder Apps

If you need more advanced features like live drawing, longer recording times without interruption, or more detailed editing, the Google Play Store has great options. Apps like AZ Screen Recorder or Mobizen offer additional controls and are fully compatible with the CMF Phone 2 Pro.

Just install your chosen app, grant the necessary permissions it requests (like display capture), and you're set. The lack of heavy bloatware in Nothing OS means these third-party apps tend to run very smoothly.
