Spam calls and robocalls are relentless, but your Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge has a full arsenal of tools to stop them. Between the built-in Hiya spam database and the One UI 7 phone app, you can block numbers in seconds or automate the entire process. Here's every way to block spam calls on your S25 Edge.

How to Block a Number from Recent Calls

Open the Phone app and tap the Recent tab at the bottom. Find the spam number, tap it, and then tap the i icon for the call details. Scroll to the bottom of that screen and tap Block number.

You'll see a checkbox to report the number as spam too. Checking that helps Samsung and Hiya improve their spam database for everyone. Once you confirm, that number won't ring your phone again.

Blocking Spam through Messages

Spam texts are just as annoying, and the process is just as quick. Open the Messages app and find the conversation from the spam number. Tap and hold the conversation bubble, then tap the i icon in the top right.

Select Block number and then Block to confirm. You won't receive any more texts from that number, and they won't know they've been blocked. It's a permanent mute for that contact.

Finding Your Blocked List

Need to unblock someone or see who's on the list? Open the Phone app, tap the three dots in the top-right corner, and go to Settings > Block numbers. This shows your entire blocked list.

You can tap the icon next to any number to unblock them. At the top of this screen, you can also manually type a number into the text field and tap Block to add it. This is useful if you get a spam call from a specific area code or prefix.

Turning on Automatic Spam Protection

Manual blocking is great, but automatic filtering is better. Go to Phone app > three dots > Settings > Caller ID and spam protection and toggle the setting on. This enables Hiya's spam database on your S25 Edge.

Once that's on, tap Block spam and scam calls directly below it. This automatically rejects calls that Hiya identifies as confirmed spam. They never ring through, so you won't even know they tried to call.

Silencing Unknown Callers

If you're getting a ton of calls from numbers not in your contacts, there's a nuclear option. Go to Phone app > Settings > Block numbers and toggle on Block unknown/private numbers. Any call from a hidden or unsaved number gets sent straight to voicemail.

This is perfect if you're in a work-from-home situation or just tired of telemarketers. Just remember that legitimate callers will hit voicemail, so check your voicemail box regularly so you don't miss something important.

The Benefits of Samsung Smart Call

Your S25 Edge includes Smart Call, which identifies unknown callers by name even if they aren't saved in your contacts. It pulls from a business directory, so you'll see "Local Pizza Place" instead of just a strange number. It also flags potential spam right on the incoming call screen.

Smart Call runs automatically once Caller ID and spam protection is enabled. No extra setup is needed, and it works silently in the background. It's one of the best reasons to keep your phone app updated through the Galaxy Store.

What Happens When You Block Someone

Understanding the mechanics helps you know what to expect. When you block a number on the Galaxy S25 Edge, the caller hears a single ring or a busy tone before being sent to voicemail. Text messages from blocked numbers are silently dropped by the system.

The caller isn't notified that they've been blocked, so there's no confrontation. You won't see missed calls from blocked numbers in your recents list on most versions of One UI 7. The block is invisible from their end.

Reporting Spam to Your Carrier

You can fight spam on a wider scale by reporting it to your mobile carrier. Forward suspicious text messages to 7726 (which spells SPAM). Just open the text, tap the three dots, select Forward, and send it to 7726.

Your carrier will analyze the message and block similar spam at the network level. This works on AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, and most other US carriers. You'll usually get a confirmation text back from them within a few seconds.

Extra Protection with Third-Party Apps

If you want even more aggressive filtering, the Play Store has excellent call-blocking apps. Truecaller and Hiya are the most popular, and they maintain massive community-driven databases of spam numbers. They can auto-block entire categories of calls before they reach you.

Install one of these apps, grant the necessary phone permissions during setup, and let it do the work. I'd recommend starting with Samsung's built-in tools first, but third-party apps are a great backup if spam is still slipping through.
