When your Honor Magic 7 Pro stops ringing, it can leave you feeling completely disconnected. This is a surprisingly common hiccup, often tied to a setting you might have changed without realizing it. The good news is that with MagicOS 9.0, most of these call-blocking gremlins can be chased away with a few quick checks.
I'd start with the simplest fix first, which often does the trick. Grab your phone and perform a force restart by pressing and holding the Power button for about 10 seconds until you see the Honor logo appear. This clears out any temporary software glitches that could be interfering with the cellular radio.
Check Your Do Not Disturb and Focus Modes
MagicOS has several ways to silence your world, and sometimes they get turned on accidentally. Swipe down from the top of your screen twice to open the full Quick Settings panel. Look for icons like a crescent moon for Do Not Disturb or other "Focus" modes and make sure they are toggled off.
For a deeper check, go into Settings > Notifications & status bar > Do Not Disturb. Here, you can see if any schedules are active and review which exceptions, like calls from your contacts, are allowed through. It's easy for a rule you set last week to be the reason you're missing calls today.
Verify Your Network Connection and SIM
Poor signal is an obvious culprit, but there are a couple of Honor-specific angles to consider. First, ensure Airplane Mode is off via the Quick Settings. If your signal bars look low, try toggling Mobile Data off and back on from the same menu to re-establish the connection to your carrier's tower.
Next, it's worth checking the physical SIM card. The Magic 7 Pro's SIM tray is on the bottom edge. Use the included ejector tool to pop it out, give the gold contacts on the SIM a gentle wipe with a soft cloth, and reseat it firmly. A loose or dirty connection can definitely cause call reception issues.
Review Call Blocking and Spam Protection Settings
Honor's phone app has built-in tools to fight spam, but they can sometimes be a little overzealous. Open your Phone app, tap the three-dot menu in the top right, and go to Settings > Blocked numbers.
Scroll through this list to make sure no important numbers have been accidentally added. Also, look for a setting called "Harassment filter" or "Smart identification"; you can temporarily disable this feature to see if it's the one blocking your incoming calls.
Disable Call Forwarding
If your calls are being silently sent to another number, you'll never hear a ring. To check this, open the Phone app, tap the menu (three dots), and go to Settings > Calling accounts. Select your SIM card and then look for Call forwarding.
Tap on each option (like "Always forward" or "When busy") and ensure they are all set to "Disable" or that the forwarding number is blank. This is a common setting that can get changed, especially if you've been experimenting with different call management features.
Reset Your Network Settings
If you're still having trouble, a network settings reset can clear out any corrupted connection data. Go to Settings > System & updates > Reset. Here, tap on Reset network settings.
You'll need to confirm your screen lock, and then the phone will restart. Be aware this will erase all saved Wi-Fi passwords, Bluetooth pairings, and mobile data preferences, so you'll have to reconnect to your networks afterward.
Update Your Magic 7 Pro Software
Outdated system software can contain bugs that affect calling stability. Honor regularly releases updates to fix these kinds of issues. Connect to Wi-Fi and go to Settings > System & updates > Software update.
Tap "Check for updates." If one is available, download and install it. The silicon-carbon battery in the Magic 7 Pro has great endurance, but for a big update, I'd plug in the 100W charger just to be safe, as the process can use a lot of power.
Clear the Phone App's Cache and Data
Corrupted data within the Phone app itself can cause it to malfunction. To fix this, head to Settings > Apps > App management. Find and tap on "Phone" from the list.
Go into Storage usage and tap "Clear cache" first. If the problem persists, you can try "Clear data." Just note that clearing data will reset the app to its default state, so you might lose your call log history within the app.
Check for Problematic Third-Party Apps
Sometimes, an app you installed recently can interfere with core phone functions. Think about any call recorder, dialer, or security apps you've added. Try booting your Magic 7 Pro into Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away.
Press and hold the Power button until the power menu appears. Then, press and hold the "Power off" option on the screen. A prompt to reboot into Safe Mode will appear; tap "OK." If calls work fine in Safe Mode, a downloaded app is likely the cause, and you'll need to uninstall them one by one to find the culprit.
Contact Your Mobile Carrier
The issue might not be with your phone at all. There could be a network outage in your area, or there might be a problem with your account. Use another phone to call your carrier's customer service.
Ask them to check for any outages and to verify that your line is fully active and has no call barring features enabled on their end. They can also sometimes push a network refresh signal directly to your device, which can resolve stubborn connection problems.
