When your CMF Phone 2 Pro stops sending sound to your headphones, it can be incredibly frustrating. Whether you're using wired earbuds or a Bluetooth pair, the silence can ruin your music, calls, or videos. The issue might be a simple setting, a software hiccup, or a physical connection problem. Let's get your audio working again.

Restart Your CMF Phone 2 Pro

This is the quickest fix for many software-related audio glitches. Press and hold the Power button for about 10 seconds until you see the phone restart. This simple step clears out temporary bugs that can prevent your phone from routing sound correctly to your headphones.

Check the Volume and Audio Output

While your headphones are connected, press the volume up button on the side of your phone. Make sure the volume slider isn't all the way down. Also, pull down your notification shade and check the media output tile. It should clearly show your headphones' name, not the phone's speaker.

If it's set to the speaker, tap the tile and select your headphones from the list. I've seen this happen a lot after disconnecting from a car's Bluetooth or a smart speaker.

Clean the USB-C Port

For wired headphones, pocket lint and debris can get packed into the USB-C port, preventing a solid connection. Shine a light into the port and look for any fuzz or dirt. Use a wooden toothpick or a soft, dry brush to gently clean it out.

Avoid using metal objects that could damage the delicate pins inside. A clean port is often the solution for headphones that keep disconnecting or sound crackly.

Forget and Re-Pair Your Bluetooth Headphones

Go to Settings > Connected devices. Find your headphones in the list and tap the gear icon next to them. Select Forget to remove them completely. Then, put your headphones back into pairing mode and reconnect them fresh from the Bluetooth menu.

This creates a new connection profile and can fix issues where the phone connects but no sound comes through. It takes about a minute and solves most pairing problems.

Toggle Bluetooth Off and On

Before you go through the forget process, try a simpler refresh. Swipe down from the top of your screen to open Quick Settings and tap the Bluetooth icon to turn it off. Wait about 10 seconds, then tap it again to turn it back on. This resets the Bluetooth radio and can immediately restore audio to your headphones.

Check for App-Specific Audio Issues

Try playing audio from different sources. Open YouTube, then try a local music file, then make a test call. If sound works in one app but not another, the problem is with that specific app, not your phone's system.

For the problematic app, force stop it by going to Settings > Apps, selecting the app, and tapping Force stop. Then clear its cache from the same menu. Reopen the app and see if audio returns.

Update Nothing OS

Audio and Bluetooth drivers are frequently improved in software updates. Go to Settings > System > System update and check for any available updates. The clean, lightweight Nothing OS on your CMF Phone 2 Pro gets regular patches that can resolve these kinds of bugs.

Make sure your phone is connected to Wi-Fi and has sufficient battery before starting the update. Installing the latest software is a crucial step for fixing persistent issues.

Check Headphone Jack Adapter or Dongle

If you're using a USB-C to 3.5mm headphone adapter, that dongle itself could be the problem. Try the adapter with another phone or device to see if it works. Also, check if the adapter is fully seated in the USB-C port.

Some cheaper adapters aren't fully compatible. If you need a new one, look for one that explicitly mentions support for Android devices or digital audio pass-through.

Reset All Network Settings

This step resets Wi-Fi, mobile data, and Bluetooth settings without touching your personal data. Go to Settings > System > Reset options > Reset Wi-Fi, mobile & Bluetooth.

You'll need to re-pair all your Bluetooth devices afterward, but it clears out any corrupted network configurations that might be blocking audio. It's a more targeted fix than a full factory reset.

Test Your Headphones on Another Device

This confirms where the problem actually lies. Pair your Bluetooth headphones with a different phone, tablet, or computer. If they also have no sound on that device, the headphones themselves are faulty.

For wired headphones, plug them into another phone or computer's audio jack. If they work fine elsewhere, you know the issue is isolated to your CMF Phone 2 Pro.

Boot into Safe Mode

Safe mode disables all third-party apps. If your headphones work perfectly in Safe Mode, a recently installed app is likely causing the conflict. To enter Safe Mode, press and hold the power button until the power menu appears, then press and hold the "Power off" option on the screen until you see a prompt to reboot to Safe Mode.

Once in Safe Mode, test your audio. If it works, restart normally and start uninstalling recent apps one by one until you find the culprit. This is a very effective way to track down problematic software.
