When your POCO X7 Pro's GPS starts acting up, it can leave you stranded in more ways than one. Whether you're trying to navigate a new city or just tag a location on social media, a flaky GPS is a real headache. The good news is that most of the time, this is a software hiccup you can fix yourself.

I'd start with the quick fixes below. They solve the majority of GPS problems on HyperOS and take just a minute or two.

Refresh Your GPS Connection

The fastest way to kickstart a stalled GPS is to toggle it off and on. Swipe down from the top of your screen to open the Control Center. Tap the Location icon to turn it off, wait about ten seconds, then tap it again to turn it back on.

This simple reset clears the temporary connection to the satellites. It's the digital equivalent of taking a deep breath and trying again.

Perform a Force Restart

If toggling doesn't work, a force restart is your next best move. This clears out any minor system glitches that might be interfering with the GPS radio.

Just press and hold the Power button for about 15 seconds. You'll feel the phone vibrate and see the POCO logo as it reboots. Wait for it to start up completely before testing your maps app again.

Check Your Location Mode and Permissions

HyperOS gives you control over how precisely your phone determines location. For the best GPS performance, you need to be in the right mode and your apps need permission to use it.

Open Settings and go to Location. First, make sure the main switch at the top is on. Then, tap on Location services. Here, you'll want to select High accuracy.

This mode uses GPS, Wi-Fi, and mobile networks together to pin down your location quickly and precisely. It uses a bit more battery, but it's essential for reliable navigation.

Next, check app permissions. Go to Settings > Apps > [Your Maps App, like Google Maps] > Permissions. Make sure Location is set to "Allow all the time" or "Allow only while using the app" for the best experience.

Disable Battery Saver and Game Turbo

Your POCO X7 Pro's power-saving features are fantastic for extending that huge 6000mAh battery, but they can limit background processes like GPS. Open Settings > Battery and make sure Power saving mode is switched off.

Also, if you have Game Turbo activated for optimized gaming performance, try disabling it temporarily. While great for games, its performance profiles can sometimes restrict other system services.

Reset Network Connections with Airplane Mode

This trick resets all the phone's radios at once, including the one for GPS. Swipe down for the Control Center and tap the Airplane mode icon to enable it.

Wait for 15-20 seconds, then tap it again to turn it off. Your phone will re-establish connections to mobile networks, Wi-Fi, and the GPS satellites, which often clears up any communication errors.

Update Your Apps and System Software

Outdated software is a common culprit. First, head to the Google Play Store and make sure Google Maps, Google Play Services, and any other navigation apps are fully updated.

Then, check for a system update. Go to Settings > About phone > HyperOS version. Tap on the icon with three dots in the top right and select Download latest update. Installing the latest HyperOS build can fix bugs affecting the GPS.

Clear the Cache for Your Maps App

Over time, the temporary data (cache) stored by apps like Google Maps can become corrupted. Clearing it forces the app to fetch fresh data, which can resolve odd behavior.

Go to Settings > Apps > Google Maps > Storage & cache. Tap Clear cache. This won't delete your saved places or settings. If the problem is severe, you can tap Clear storage or Clear data, but be aware this will reset the app to its default state.

Check for Physical and Environmental Issues

GPS signals are line-of-sight and can be blocked. If you're indoors, in a basement, or surrounded by dense urban skyscrapers, your phone will struggle. Move to a window or, better yet, step outside with a clear view of the sky.

Also, check your phone case. Some thick, metallic, or heavily reinforced cases can interfere with the antenna. Try removing the case temporarily to see if your GPS accuracy improves.

Boot Into Safe Mode to Rule Out App Conflicts

If a recently installed third-party app is causing a conflict, Safe Mode will tell you. To enter Safe Mode on the POCO X7 Pro, press and hold the Power button until the power menu appears.

Then, tap and hold the Power off option on your screen. You'll get a prompt to reboot to Safe Mode. Tap OK. If your GPS works perfectly in Safe Mode, a downloaded app is likely the problem. Restart normally to exit Safe Mode and try uninstalling apps one by one to find the culprit.

Use a GPS Test App for Diagnosis

When you need hard data, a dedicated app like "GPS Test" or "GPS Essentials" from the Play Store is invaluable. Open the app and look for a screen showing satellites.

If your phone sees and connects to multiple satellites (the bars turn green) but your navigation app still fails, it's almost certainly a software or app issue. If the app shows zero satellites with a clear sky view, even after all other fixes, it could point toward a hardware problem.

Wipe the Cache Partition (Advanced)

This clears temporary system files that might be corrupted. First, power off your POCO X7 Pro completely. Then, press and hold the Power and Volume Up buttons together until the POCO/Recovery mode logo appears.

Use the volume buttons to navigate to Wipe cache partition and select it with the power button. Confirm if prompted. Once it's done, select Reboot system now.
