Wednesday brings a fresh set of NYT Pips puzzles. Today's set runs a familiar mix of equal-value, greater-than, and exact-total zones, with a couple of tightly constrained corners doing the heavy lifting. We've got a quick hint and the full solution for each of the Easy, Medium, and Hard puzzles.
How to Play Pips
Pips is a domino placement puzzle where you fill a grid of color-coded zones. Each zone has a condition you must satisfy using the pip values on your dominoes. The twist: you must use every domino and meet every condition to win.
Zone Conditions:
- = All pips in this zone must equal the same number
- Not Equal All pips must be different numbers
- > Pips must be greater than the listed number
- < Pips must be less than the listed number
- Exact Number Pips must total that exact value
- No Color Free space, any domino value works
Click or tap dominoes to rotate them. Each puzzle has one or more valid solutions.

Overall Difficulty: Moderate challenge
Trickiest Puzzle: Hard - the strictest zones sit next to uncolored space, which tempts you to place flexible dominoes early and then locks you out of the exact-total zones later.
Our Take: Today's set rewards patience over speed. The Easy board is a clean warm-up, the Medium board tightens the constraints, and the Hard board punishes any placement made before you have read every zone condition. The recurring lesson: solve the zones that accept the fewest dominoes first.
Tomorrow's Pips drops at midnight. See you then.
