Capturing what's happening on your Moto G Power (2025) screen is a great way to save a moment or create a tutorial. The phone comes with a built-in screen recorder right in Android 15, and it's pretty straightforward to use once you know where to look.

Access the Screen Recorder in Quick Settings

Swipe down from the top of your screen twice to pull down the full Quick Settings panel. Look for a tile labeled Screen record. If you don't see it immediately, tap the pencil icon to edit your tiles.

Drag the Screen recorder tile into your active panel. On the Moto G Power, it's usually found under the "Moto" or "Device" section of available tiles. Once it's added, you can tap it to start.

Start Your First Recording

Tap the Screen record tile. A small menu will pop up asking you to choose your audio source. You can pick Device audio to capture sounds from apps and games, Device audio and microphoneMicrophone only.

You'll also see a toggle to Show touches. Turning this on displays a white circle wherever you tap, which is incredibly helpful if you're making a how-to guide. Tap Start, and after a three-second countdown, the recording begins.

Stop and Save the Video

To stop recording, swipe down from the top and tap the Stop button in the persistent notification. You can also just tap the red recording indicator that floats on your screen.

The video saves automatically to your Gallery app. I find it usually goes into a folder called "Screen recordings" or "Captures." The file is ready to view, edit, or share right away.

Trim and Edit Your Capture

Open the video in your Gallery app and look for an Edit option. The built-in editor lets you trim the start and end points, which is perfect for cutting out the moments where you were fumbling to start or stop the recorder.

For more advanced edits, you can use Google Photos. It offers basic cropping, filters, and adjustment tools. Since the Moto G Power starts with 128GB of storage, keeping an eye on file sizes for longer recordings is a good habit.

Record Gameplay with Audio Commentary

If you're into mobile gaming, the "Device audio and microphone" option is your best friend. It lets you capture the game's sound effects and music while also recording your reactions or commentary.

Just remember, the Dimensity 6300 processor is a budget chip. Recording high-quality video while playing a graphically intense game might lead to some performance lag or frame drops.

Understand What You Can't Record

Due to copyright and security restrictions, some content will block recording. Streaming apps like Netflix, Disney+, and HBO Max will typically display a black screen during playback.

Secure apps for banking or digital payments will also prevent recording. For everything else, browsing, social media, or most games, you shouldn't run into any issues.

Share Your Screen Recording

Once you're happy with your video, sharing is simple. From the Gallery app, tap the share button. You can send it directly via Messages, Gmail, WhatsApp, or upload it to platforms like YouTube or TikTok.

For very long recordings, the file size can get large. You might want to use a video compressor app from the Play Store before sharing over messaging apps that have size limits.

Try a Third-Party Recorder for More Features

If you need features like drawing on the screen live, scheduling recordings, or more granular quality controls, check the Play Store. Apps like AZ Screen Recorder or Mobizen offer a wider set of tools.

They do require granting additional permissions via accessibility settings. I'd recommend sticking with the built-in tool first, as it's perfectly capable for most everyday tasks.
