You follow a creator, wait for the LIVE alert, and TikTok stays quiet. The fix usually sits in one of three places: TikTok's own LIVE settings, your phone's notification controls, or a schedule, Focus, Mode, battery, or data setting blocking background alerts. Start with the fastest in-app checks, then move outward to iPhone or Android settings.

Turn on TikTok LIVE alerts inside the app

Use this when TikTok notifications work in general but LIVE alerts are missing. It also applies after changing TikTok's notification settings.

Open TikTok and tap Profile.

Tap Menu, then choose Settings and privacy.

Open Notifications and turn on the push notification types you want TikTok to send.

For LIVE alerts, open LIVE notification settings and turn on Get LIVE notifications from accounts you follow when that row appears on your account.

TikTok changes the exact LIVE sublabel by account, region, and rollout, so use the LIVE control shown on your screen.

Fix alerts for one creator you follow

Use the creator's profile controls when every other alert works.

  1. 1.Open TikTok and go to the creator's profile.
  2. 2.Tap the Notification settings button at the top of the profile.
  3. 3.Open that creator's post or LIVE video notification setting.
  4. 4.Change None to a notification level that allows LIVE alerts.
  5. 5.Stay followed to receive follower-based LIVE notifications from that creator.

Remove schedules that silence TikTok

Open TikTok and tap Profile.

Tap Menu, then choose Settings and privacy.

Open Notifications.

Select Push notification schedule.

Turn the schedule off, or adjust it so it does not cover the hours when you expect LIVE alerts.

Teen accounts also have a default overnight mute period, so check this first when alerts fail late at night. TikTok mutes push notifications from 9 p.m. to 8 a.m. for ages 13 to 15, and from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m. for ages 16 to 17, and those default hours cannot be changed or turned off. A parent or guardian can schedule extra muted hours in Family Pairing, but the default period still overrides any overlapping custom time.

Allow TikTok notifications on iPhone

On current iPhone settings, open Settings, then Apps, then TikTok, then Notifications. Turn on Allow Notifications so iOS can deliver TikTok alerts.

For alert placement and sound, open Settings, then Notifications, then TikTok. Turn on the Lock Screen, Notification Center, Banner, and Sounds options you want.

When LIVE alerts arrive late, open Settings, then Notifications, then Scheduled Summary. Remove TikTok from Apps in Summary, or turn off Scheduled Summary.

Stop Focus from blocking LIVE alerts

This fixes LIVE alerts silenced by Do Not Disturb, Sleep, Work, or another Focus.

On iPhone or iPad, open Control Center.

Tap the Do Not Disturb icon on the Focus button to turn it off.

If another Focus is active, tap its icon to turn that Focus off.

To keep a Focus active and allow TikTok, open Settings.

Tap Focus and choose the Focus you use.

Open Apps or Choose Apps, select Allow Notifications From, and add TikTok.

Check Android notification and Mode settings

On Android, open Settings, then Notifications, then App notifications. Choose All apps, select TikTok, and turn notifications on.

When notification categories appear, enable the TikTok categories you need, including LIVE-related categories shown on your phone. If a TikTok category is set to silent, open that notification type, choose Alerting, and turn on Pop on screen when you want a visible alert.

To stop Do Not Disturb from suppressing alerts, swipe down from the top of the screen and tap Do Not Disturb to turn it off. On Android 14 and later, also check Settings, then Modes, then Do Not Disturb.

To keep a Mode active and allow TikTok, open Settings, then Modes, choose the active mode, open Notification filters, then Apps, and allow TikTok. On older Android versions, check Settings, then Apps and notifications, then TikTok, then App notifications, then Override Do Not Disturb when that option appears.

Ease Android battery and data limits

The most common Android-only cause after permissions is aggressive battery or data saving.

On Pixel, open Settings, then Battery, then Battery Saver, then Adaptive Battery.

Review Adaptive Battery because it delays some notifications.

For TikTok's app-level battery access, open Settings, then Apps, then See all apps, then TikTok, then App battery usage.

Turn on Allow background usage and choose the least restrictive option your device provides.

For Data Saver, open Settings, then Network and internet, then Data Saver, then Unrestricted data.

Turn on TikTok, or turn Data Saver off.

Update TikTok and your phone software

This fixes missing LIVE alerts tied to outdated app or system software.

On iPhone or iPad, open the App Store.

Tap your account button or photo, open App Updates, and tap Update next to TikTok.

On Android, open the Google Play Store.

Tap your profile icon, choose Manage apps and device, open Updates available, select See details, and tap Update next to TikTok.

To update iPhone or iPad system software, open Settings, then General, then Software Update.

Tap Download and Install when an update is offered.

To update Android, open Settings, then System, then Software update, and follow the onscreen instructions.

On Pixel, the menu says Software updates.

On Samsung Galaxy, open Settings, then Software update or System updates, and choose Download and install or the install option shown.

Clear TikTok cache or reinstall the app

Use this after TikTok permissions, phone permissions, schedules, Focus, Mode, battery, data, and updates are already fixed. Reinstalling removes local app data or drafts on some devices, so protect anything you need before deleting TikTok.

To clear TikTok's cache, open TikTok and tap Profile.

Tap Menu, then choose Settings and privacy.

Open Free up space and tap Clear next to Cache.

On iPhone or iPad, touch and hold TikTok on the Home Screen or in App Library.

Tap Delete App, then tap Delete.

Redownload TikTok from the App Store through your account page, Apps and Purchase History, Your Apps, and Not on this device.

On Android, uninstall TikTok from the Google Play listing or the device app info screen.

Reinstall TikTok from Google Play.

You can also redownload it through Google Play Store, your profile icon, Manage apps and device, then Manage. If TikTok is not listed, tap This device at the top, choose Not installed, select TikTok, then tap Install or Enable.

Skip TikTok Nudge as a repair path. Use TikTok's current Notifications and creator Notification settings controls instead.

When nothing changes, report the problem from TikTok by opening Profile, then Menu, then Settings and privacy, then Report a problem.

Choose the relevant topic and submit details about the missing LIVE notifications.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why do I get TikTok notifications but not LIVE notifications?

General TikTok push alerts and LIVE alerts use separate controls. Turn on LIVE alerts in TikTok's Notifications screen, then check the creator's Notification settings button.

Why are TikTok LIVE alerts delayed on my iPhone?

Scheduled Summary can hold TikTok notifications for later delivery. Remove TikTok from Scheduled Summary or turn Scheduled Summary off.

Can Do Not Disturb block TikTok LIVE notifications?

Yes. Do Not Disturb, Focus on iPhone, and Modes on Android silence TikTok unless you turn the mode off or allow TikTok through that mode.

Should I reinstall TikTok to fix LIVE notifications?

Reinstall after checking TikTok settings, phone permissions, schedules, Focus or Do Not Disturb, battery or data limits, and updates. Reinstalling can remove local app data or drafts.
