Spam calls and unwanted messages can find their way to any device, including your Samsung Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra. If your tablet has a SIM card or you use Wi-Fi calling, you have the same blocking tools as any Samsung phone. Here is exactly how to block numbers across Android 16 on your Tab S11 Ultra.
Block a number straight from Recent Calls
Open the Phone app on your Tab S11 Ultra and tap the Recents tab. Find the number you want to block, tap it once, and tap the i icon next to it. Scroll down and hit Block number, then confirm. That number won't reach you again.
Block spam through Messages
Open the Messages app and open the conversation thread you want to stop. Tap the three-dot menu in the top-right corner and select Block number or Block and report spam. Reporting it helps Samsung's spam database improve for everyone.
Remove a Contact completely
Open the Contacts app, find the name, and tap their contact card. Tap the three-dot menu and select Block contact. This blocks all calls and texts from every number stored under that contact.
Manage your full block list
You can see and edit every number you have blocked from one spot. Go to Phone app > Menu > Settings > Block numbers. The full list is right there. Tap the red minus icon next to any number to unblock it instantly. You can also type a new number into the block list from this menu.
Turn on spam protection
Your Tab S11 Ultra uses Samsung's Smart Call system to flag suspected spam before you even answer. Head to Phone app > Settings > Caller ID and spam protection and toggle it on. This also powers the Block spam and scam calls option right below it, which automatically rejects numbers flagged as spam.
Automatically silence unknown numbers
If you want to block every caller who isn't in your contacts, go to Phone app > Settings > Block numbers. Toggle on Block unknown/private numbers or Block calls from unknown numbers. They can still leave a voicemail, but the ringer won't go off.
What happens when you block somebody
Blocked callers hear a busy tone or get sent straight to voicemail. They won't get any notification that they are blocked. Text messages from them are silently dropped in the background, and you won't see any missed call alerts in your log.
Report spam texts to your carrier
You can help your carrier block spam at the network level. Forward any spam text message to 7726 (which spells SPAM). You will get a confirmation text back asking for the sender's number. This works on AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, and most other carriers.
Install a third-party blocker for extra coverage
If you are still getting flooded with spam, apps like Truecaller or Hiya keep massive databases of known spam numbers. They screen calls and texts automatically and block them before they reach you. Grab one from the Galaxy Store or Play Store, enable the call screening during setup, and you are set.
