Resetting the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro works through the Galaxy Wearable app, not a button on the case. Unlike some other earbuds that use a hardware button sequence, Samsung keeps this all software-driven. You open the app, find the reset option, and let the buds handle the rest.

A reset is worth doing if you're selling the buds, gifting them, or stuck with connection problems that won't clear with a simple re-pair. It's also the fix for that annoying issue where one bud stops responding or the stem touch controls go haywire. The whole process takes about a minute.

When to Reset Versus Re-Pair

Try a standard re-pair first if you're just dealing with a dropped Bluetooth connection. Put both buds in the case, close the lid, wait ten seconds, then open it back up. Hold the case near your phone and see if they reconnect automatically. That clears most transient glitches without wiping anything.

If the buds still won't connect after a re-pair attempt, or if they keep disconnecting mid-song, a full reset is the next step. The reset erases all pairing history and restores factory settings, which clears corrupted Bluetooth entries and stuck firmware states.

Reset Through the Galaxy Wearable App

Make sure both buds are in the case and the case has some charge in it before you start. Open the Galaxy Wearable app on your phone. Tap About earbuds toward the bottom of the settings list, then tap Reset. Confirm the prompt and the buds will reset in a few seconds.

If you're on a Samsung Galaxy phone with One UI 6.1 or later, the Galaxy Wearable app includes the Galaxy Buds3 Pro Manager plugin automatically. On other Android phones, you'll need to install the Galaxy Wearable app from the Play Store first. iPhone users can use the Galaxy Buds app, but reset options there may be limited depending on the app version.

Confirm the Reset Worked

Once the reset completes, open your phone's Bluetooth settings. The Galaxy Buds 3 Pro should no longer appear as a paired device. If they still show up as connected or available in the paired list, the reset didn't take. Run it again through the app and watch for the confirmation message.

The buds also make a subtle confirmation sound through the case speaker when the reset finishes. Listen for a short chime after you tap Reset in the app. No chime usually means the buds didn't get the command, often because they weren't seated properly in the case.

Re-Pair Everything from Scratch

After the reset, the buds are in their factory state. Open the case lid near your unlocked phone. A pairing popup should appear on the screen within a few seconds. Tap Connect and follow the prompts. The Galaxy Wearable app will run through the initial setup, including ear tip fit and ANC calibration.

If the popup doesn't appear, open the Galaxy Wearable app manually and tap Start. Make sure Bluetooth is on and the buds are in pairing mode (they enter that mode automatically after a reset when the case is open with the buds inside).

Dealing With Charging Case Detection Issues

Galaxy Buds 3 Pro owners sometimes run into a problem where the case won't detect that the buds are inside it. This is separate from the standard reset but related. If the case doesn't see the buds, the app won't be able to reset them either.

Pop both buds out of the case and put them back in, making sure each bud clicks firmly into its charging slot. Check the case indicator light it should glow briefly when you seat each bud. If the light doesn't react, wipe the charging contacts on both the buds and inside the case with a dry microfiber cloth. Sometimes a thin layer of earwax or dust blocks the connection.

If the case still won't detect the buds after cleaning, try a case hard reset. Disconnect the USB-C cable if one is plugged in, open and close the case lid five times in quick succession. The case light should flash amber to confirm the reset. This clears the case's internal state without affecting the buds themselves.

What Gets Erased When You Reset

The reset removes all Bluetooth pairings, so the buds will no longer connect to your phone, tablet, or any other device until you pair them fresh. It also resets any custom settings you made in the Galaxy Wearable app, including ANC intensity levels, EQ presets, touch control customizations, and voice command preferences.

Firmware version sticks. A reset doesn't downgrade or update the firmware it just factory resets the settings. If you reset to fix a bug, check for a firmware update right after re-pairing by opening Galaxy Wearable > Earbud settings > Update earbuds software. Samsung has pushed stability patches that address the sensitive stem touch controls and ANC behavior on the Buds 3 Pro.

Galaxy AI features like Interpreter Listening Mode and Adaptive Noise Control require One UI 7 or later and only work with Samsung Galaxy phones. Those features re-activate automatically once you re-pair with a compatible device, but you may need to toggle them on again in the app.

For 24-bit Hi-Fi playback, make sure you're using a Samsung Galaxy phone with One UI 6.1 or later and that Samsung Seamless Codec is selected in developer options. The Buds 3 Pro also support AAC and SBC for non-Samsung devices, but you lose the high-resolution audio capability.
