When Bluetooth stops working on your ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16, it can leave your wireless gaming headset, mouse, or controller useless right when you need them. The connection might fail to pair, drop constantly, or the Bluetooth radio might not even show up. Here's how to get it working again.

Toggle Bluetooth On and Off

First, check the quick settings. Click the notification center icon in the bottom-right corner of your taskbar and make sure the Bluetooth tile is highlighted. If it's off, click it to turn it on. You can also go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices and toggle the main Bluetooth switch there.

Restart Your Zephyrus G16

This is the simplest fix for a lot of weird laptop behavior. A full restart reloads all the drivers and services, including the Bluetooth stack. It often resolves issues that pop up after the laptop wakes from sleep or after a recent Windows update.

Forget and Re-Pair Your Device

Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices. Find the problematic headset or controller, click the three dots next to it, and select Remove device. Then, put your Bluetooth device into pairing mode and click Add device to pair it fresh. A corrupted pairing profile is a very common culprit.

Run the Windows Bluetooth Troubleshooter

Windows has a built-in tool for this. Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters. Find the Bluetooth troubleshooter and click Run. It will scan for common configuration problems and try to apply automatic fixes.

Update Your Bluetooth Drivers

Outdated or corrupted drivers are a frequent cause. Press Windows Key + X and select Device Manager. Expand the Bluetooth section, right-click on your Bluetooth adapter (it might be listed as Intel or MediaTek), and choose Update driver > Search automatically for drivers.

If that doesn't find an update, visit the official ASUS support site, enter your Zephyrus G16 model, and download the latest Bluetooth driver from there. Installing the manufacturer's driver is often more reliable.

Check for Armoury Crate Conflicts

Since the Zephyrus G16 relies heavily on Armoury Crate for system control, a buggy update can sometimes interfere with other functions. Try closing Armoury Crate completely from the system tray to see if Bluetooth comes back. You can also check for updates within the Armoury Crate app itself.

Restart the Bluetooth Support Service

Press Windows Key + R, type services.msc, and hit Enter. Scroll down to find Bluetooth Support Service. Right-click on it and select Restart. Also, double-click it to open its properties and ensure the Startup type is set to Automatic.

Minimize Wireless Interference

Bluetooth shares the 2.4GHz band with WiFi and other devices. On a gaming laptop, this can be crowded. Try moving your Bluetooth device closer to the laptop. Also, unplug any USB 3.0 devices or external hard drives, as they can sometimes emit interference that disrupts the Bluetooth signal.

Install All Windows Updates

Go to Settings > Windows Update and click Check for updates. Install any available feature or quality updates. Microsoft regularly patches Windows components, including the Bluetooth stack, to fix connection and audio issues.

Reinstall the Bluetooth Adapter

If nothing else works, you can try a clean driver install. In Device Manager, right-click your Bluetooth adapter and select Uninstall device. Check the box that says "Attempt to remove the driver for this device" if it appears. Then, restart your laptop. Windows will detect the hardware on boot and reinstall a fresh driver.
