When your Samsung Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra won't charge wirelessly, it's usually a power-source issue, a positioning problem, or a software quirk directly tied to the tablet's known behavior after a full battery drain. The good news is that most fixes are quick and don't require any tools. Here's how to get that Qi charging coil working again.

Force Restart First

If the tablet is completely unresponsive, black screen, no charging indicator, nothing, start with a force restart. This is especially important if the battery drained to zero, because the Tab S11 Ultra can become unresponsive to charging after a full drain.

Press and hold the Power button and Volume Down button simultaneously for 10 15 seconds until the device restarts. Let go when you see the Samsung logo. Once it boots up, place it back on the wireless charger.

Use a Wall Outlet, Not a Power Strip

Wireless charging pads are sensitive to voltage fluctuations. Plug your charger directly into a wall outlet rather than a power strip or extension cord. This is one of the most common fixes I see with the Tab S11 Ultra, splitting power with other devices can drop the voltage just enough to stop Qi charging.

Make sure the wall outlet is working by testing it with another device or lamp.

Wait Up to 10 Minutes After a Full Drain

The Tab S11 Ultra has a known issue where the charging indicator can take up to 10 minutes to appear when the battery is completely empty. If you just placed a dead tablet on the wireless pad, give it a full ten minutes before assuming something is broken.

Leave it alone, don't pick it up, don't move it, don't check it every 30 seconds. Just let the charge build up slowly. The 15W wireless input is slower than wired, so the first few minutes are especially quiet.

Check the Coil Alignment

Wireless charging on a large tablet like the Tab S11 Ultra depends on hitting the right spot. The charging coil is typically in the center of the back panel. Place the tablet squarely in the center of the charging pad. Even a slight shift can prevent charging.

If your charger has a guidance light, watch for it to change color or blink. No light change? Reposition the tablet.

Remove the Case or Cover

Thick folio cases, rugged covers, or anything with a metal plate or magnetic kickstand can block the Qi signal. Pop the tablet out of its case and set it directly on the charger. If it starts charging, you know the case is the problem.

Look for a case labeled "wireless charging compatible" if you need one that stays on while charging.

Clean the Back and the Charging Pad

Dust, pocket lint, or sticky residue on the back of the tablet or on the charging pad can break the connection. Wipe the back of the Tab S11 Ultra with a soft, lint-free cloth. Also clean the surface of the Qi pad.

If you've been charging with a case on, dirt can accumulate between the case and the tablet's back panel, clean that area too.

Check the Charger and Power Adapter

Not all wireless chargers are created equal. The Tab S11 Ultra supports Qi charging up to 15W, but it needs a compatible adapter to deliver that power. Make sure the USB power adapter you're using with the wireless pad is rated for at least 15W (ideally 18W or higher).

Try a different Qi charger if you have one. If the tablet charges on another pad, the original charger is the culprit. If it doesn't charge on any wireless pad, the issue is with the tablet itself.

Update the Software

Go to Settings > Software Update > Download and Install. Samsung has fixed wireless charging bugs in Android 16 updates for the Tab S11 Ultra. If there's an update waiting, install it and then try charging again.

Restart the tablet after the update to clear any lingering software hiccups.

Reset All Settings

If nothing else has worked, a settings reset can wipe out software issues that prevent the tablet from recognizing the charger. Go to Settings > General Management > Reset > Reset All Settings. This won't delete your photos, apps, or accounts, but it will reset Wi-Fi passwords, Bluetooth pairings, and display preferences.

After the reset, set the tablet back up and test wireless charging again.

Try Wired Charging as a Backup

If the wireless charger still won't work, plug the Tab S11 Ultra into a USB‑C cable with a 45W adapter. If it charges fine over the wire, the tablet's charging hardware is working, the problem is specifically with the Qi coil or the wireless pad.

Also inspect the USB‑C port for debris or damage, since a faulty port can sometimes affect the tablet's ability to communicate with wireless chargers (the port and coil share some internal circuitry).
