When your Redmi Note 14 Pro goes silent, it can throw you off completely. Whether you're missing notifications, can't hear calls, or your videos are playing without a peep, the issue is usually something simple. The good news is you can almost always fix it yourself with a few quick checks.

Let's start with the most common culprit. Pull down the notification shade twice to see the full quick settings panel. Look for the sound icon and make sure it's not set to vibrate or silent. If it is, tap it to switch back to sound mode.

Check All Volume Levels

On HyperOS, different sounds have their own volume sliders. Just because your media is loud doesn't mean your ringtone is. Press the volume up button on the side of your phone, then tap the little arrow or settings icon that appears next to the slider.

This will expand the view to show individual volume controls for Media, Ringtone, Alarm, and more. Slide each one up to a comfortable level. I've seen phones where the alarm volume was at zero, leaving people wondering why their morning alarm never went off.

Disconnect Bluetooth and Accessories

Your phone might be trying to send audio somewhere else. Swipe down and check if the Bluetooth icon is active in your quick settings. If it is, tap it to turn Bluetooth off completely for now.

Also, unplug any headphones or USB-C accessories. Some cheap third-party chargers or adapters can confuse the audio system. With everything disconnected, try playing a video or a song from your library to test the speaker.

Clean the Speaker Grills

The Redmi Note 14 Pro has speaker grills along the top edge and next to the USB-C port. Over time, pocket lint and dust can clog them. Grab a soft, clean toothbrush or a small makeup brush and gently brush over the grills.

You can also use a can of compressed air, but hold it upright and use very short bursts. Never poke anything sharp like a pin or SIM tool into the holes, as you'll likely damage the speaker behind the grill.

Review Do Not Disturb and Sound Profiles

Go into Settings > Sound & vibration. Look for the Sound mode section. Make sure it's set to "Sound" and not "Vibrate" or "Silent."

Right below that, tap on Do Not Disturb. If this is turned on, it will silence most notifications and calls. Toggle it off to see if your sound returns. You can also check the rules here to see if a scheduled DND is causing the silence.

Force Restart Your Phone

A simple reboot clears out temporary glitches that can affect the audio system. For the Redmi Note 14 Pro, press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds.

Keep holding it until you see the phone screen go black and the Xiaomi or HyperOS logo reappear. This forces a full shutdown and restart, which fixes a lot of odd behavior.

Check for App-Specific Sound Issues

If sound is missing from just one app, like WhatsApp or YouTube, the problem is likely with that app, not your phone. First, try closing the app completely and reopening it. If that doesn't work, check the app's own sound settings.

For system apps, HyperOS sometimes includes promotional notifications that can be muted. You can manage this by going to Settings > Notifications & status bar > App notifications. Find the problematic app and ensure its notifications are allowed to play sound.

Boot Into Safe Mode

This starts your phone with all third-party apps disabled. If sound works perfectly in safe mode, you know a recently downloaded app is causing the conflict. To enter safe mode, press and hold the power button until the power menu appears.

Then, tap and hold the "Power off" option on your screen. A prompt will ask if you want to reboot to safe mode. Tap "OK." Your phone will restart with "Safe Mode" visible in the bottom corner.

Test your sound here. To exit safe mode, just restart your phone normally.

Clear the Cache Partition

Corrupted system cache can lead to audio problems, especially after a software update. Turn your phone off completely. Once it's off, press and hold the Power and Volume Up buttons together.

Hold them until you see the HyperOS recovery screen. Use the volume buttons to navigate to "Wipe data" and press the power button to select it. On the next screen, choose "Wipe cache" and confirm. This only deletes temporary system files, not your personal data.

Update Your Software

Xiaomi regularly releases updates that fix bugs, including audio-related ones. Connect to Wi-Fi and go to Settings > About phone > HyperOS version. Tap the "Check for updates" button.

If an update is available, download and install it. Your phone will restart during this process. It's a good idea to plug it into a 45W HyperCharge adapter while updating to ensure it doesn't run out of power.

Reset All Settings

If you're still having issues, this resets all your system settings to default without touching your photos, apps, or messages. Go to Settings > About phone > Factory reset.

On this menu, select Reset all settings. Confirm your choice and enter your lock screen password if prompted. Your phone will reboot, and you'll need to reconfigure things like Wi-Fi passwords and display settings, but it often resolves persistent sound glitches.
