If your POCO F6 is suddenly silent when you should be getting alerts, it's a common but fixable problem. The issue usually comes down to a setting that got changed, an app misbehaving, or a temporary software glitch. I'd start with the quick checks first, as they solve most cases.
The most common fix is to check your Focus Mode and Do Not Disturb settings. Swipe down from the top of your screen twice to open the full Quick Settings panel. Look for tiles labeled "Focus Mode" or "Do Not Disturb" and make sure they aren't highlighted or turned on. If they are, tap them to disable them.
Check App-Specific Notification Settings
Android and HyperOS give you fine-grained control over notifications per app. The app you're missing alerts from might have its notifications silenced. Open Settings and go to Notifications & status bar > App notifications.
Find the problematic app in the list and tap on it. Make sure the toggle at the top for "Allow notifications" is enabled. Also, check that the categories below, like "Default" or "Messages," aren't set to "No sound" or blocked entirely.
Force Stop and Relaunch the Problem App
Sometimes an app just freezes up in the background and stops pushing notifications. A quick force stop can kick it back into gear. Go to Settings > Apps and select the app that's not notifying you.
Tap on Force stop and confirm. Then, simply open the app again normally. This clears its temporary state without deleting any of your data or login information.
Restart Your POCO F6
It sounds simple because it is. A full restart clears out system memory and resets all background services, including the one that handles notifications. Press and hold the power button until the power menu appears, then tap "Restart."
If your phone is completely unresponsive, you can perform a force restart. Just press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds until you feel it vibrate and see the POCO logo appear on screen.
Review Battery Saver and Background Restrictions
Aggressive battery saving is a top culprit for killing notifications. HyperOS can restrict apps from running in the background to save power. First, go to Settings > Battery and make sure any power saving modes like "Battery saver" are turned off.
Next, go to Settings > Apps > [Your App] > Battery. Here, set the option to "No restrictions" to ensure it can run freely in the background and deliver alerts.
Clear the App's Cache and Data
Corrupted temporary files can break an app's notification function. Clearing the cache is safe and won't delete your account. Go to Settings > Apps > [Your App] > Storage & cache.
Tap "Clear cache." If that doesn't work, you can try "Clear data," but be aware this will log you out and reset the app's settings to default, so you'll need to sign back in.
Ensure Notification Sounds and Vibration Are On
It's possible your notification volume is all the way down or set to a silent ringtone. Press a volume button and tap the settings icon (or arrow) that appears above the volume slider. This expands the menu for media, ring, and notification volume.
Make sure the notification volume slider isn't at zero. You can also go to Settings > Sound & vibration > Notification sound to verify a real sound is selected, not "Silent."
Check for Software Updates
Xiaomi frequently releases updates for HyperOS that fix bugs, including notification issues. An outdated system can have known problems that are already solved. Connect to Wi-Fi and go to Settings > About phone > HyperOS version.
Tap "Check for updates." If an update is available, install it. Your phone will restart, and it's a good idea to check your notification problem afterward.
Disable Battery Optimization for Key Apps
Beyond the basic battery settings, Android has a deeper optimization feature that can delay notifications. Go to Settings > Apps > Special app access > Battery optimization.
Tap the dropdown menu and select "All apps." Find your app in the list, tap it, and choose "Don't optimize." This tells the system to never restrict this app's background activity.
Reset App Preferences (Doesn't Delete Data)
This is a useful nuclear option for settings-related issues. It resets all your app permissions, notification settings, and default apps back to factory state, but it doesn't touch your personal app data.
Go to Settings > Apps > (tap the three-dot menu) > Reset app preferences. Confirm the action. Afterward, you'll need to re-allow notifications for your apps when prompted, but this can clear up any conflicting system-level blocks.
Examine Lock Screen Notification Settings
You might be missing notifications because they're hidden on your lock screen for privacy. Open Settings > Notifications & status bar > Lock screen notifications.
Make sure this is set to "Show all notification content" or "Show sensitive content only" if you want details hidden. If it's set to "Don't show notifications," you won't see anything until you unlock your phone.
