When your POCO F6 suddenly goes silent through your headphones, it can ruin your music, calls, and videos. The sound might play from the phone's speaker instead, or you might get crackling audio or no sound at all. Let's get it fixed.

Restart Your POCO F6

This is the quickest fix for a lot of weird software glitches, including audio problems. Just press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds until you see the POCO or Xiaomi logo appear on the screen. This force restarts the phone and often clears up temporary audio routing issues immediately.

Check Your Volume and Do Not Disturb

It sounds simple, but it's easy to miss. While your headphones are connected, press the volume up button on the side of your phone. Make sure the volume slider isn't all the way down. Also, pull down your notification shade and check that Do Not Disturb or Silent mode isn't accidentally enabled, as this can sometimes affect media volume.

Clean the USB-C Port

If you're using wired headphones with a USB-C connector, pocket lint and debris can get packed into the port and block a proper connection. I've seen this cause all sorts of detection issues. Gently clean it out with a wooden toothpick or a soft-bristled brush. Avoid using anything metal that could damage the contacts inside.

Forget and Re-Pair Your Bluetooth Headphones

For wireless issues, a fresh start with the Bluetooth connection works wonders. Go to Settings > Bluetooth. Find your headphones in the list of paired devices and tap the gear icon next to them. Then, tap Forget. Put your headphones back into pairing mode and reconnect them from scratch. This clears out any corrupted connection data.

Check the Audio Output Selection

HyperOS can sometimes send audio to the wrong place. When you're playing music or a video, open the media player in your notification shade. You should see a small icon indicating where the sound is going. Tap it to see a list of available outputs and make sure your headphones are selected, not the phone speaker.

Toggle Bluetooth Off and On

A quick refresh of the Bluetooth radio can solve intermittent connection problems. Swipe down from the top of your screen to open the Quick Settings panel and tap the Bluetooth icon to turn it off. Wait about 10 seconds, then tap it again to turn it back on. Try reconnecting your headphones afterward.

Disable Absolute Volume in Developer Options

Sometimes, the volume control on your phone and your Bluetooth headphones get out of sync, leading to very low or no sound. You can fix this by enabling Developer Options. Go to Settings > About phone and tap on OS version seven times. Then, go back to Settings, enter Additional settings > Developer options, and look for "Disable absolute volume." Toggle it on, then restart your phone and reconnect your headphones.

Check for a Software Update

Audio bugs are common fixes in system updates. Go to Settings > About phone > HyperOS version. Tap the "Check for updates" button at the top. If an update is available, install it. Keeping your POCO F6 updated is one of the best ways to prevent these kinds of glitches, especially with a new device like the 2024 F6.

Try Safe Mode

If the problem only happens with certain apps, a third-party app might be interfering with the audio. Boot into Safe Mode to check. Press and hold the power button until the power menu appears, then long-press the "Power off" option. Tap "OK" to reboot into Safe Mode. If your headphones work fine here, you know a downloaded app is the culprit. Uninstall apps you recently installed one by one to find the offender.

Reset All Settings

If nothing else has worked, this nuclear option for settings can resolve deep-seated configuration problems. It won't delete your personal data like photos or messages. Go to Settings > Additional settings > Backup & reset > Erase all data (factory reset). Then, select Reset all settings. You'll have to re-pair Bluetooth devices and reconfigure things like Wi-Fi passwords, but it often fixes persistent audio routing issues.
