If your OnePlus 13 is plugged in but the battery percentage is barely moving, you're likely missing out on its 100W fast charging. That feature should get you from empty to a full charge in roughly half an hour, but a few common issues can bring it to a standstill.
Start with the Original Charger
OnePlus's proprietary fast charging, called SuperVOOC, is very particular about its gear. For the fastest possible 100W speeds, you absolutely need to use the official OnePlus 100W adapter and the included red USB-C cable. Third-party chargers, even powerful ones, often default to slower USB-PD protocols, which max out at a much lower wattage on this phone.
Check the adapter itself. It should clearly state 100W SuperVOOC. If you're using an older OnePlus charger from a previous model, it might only support 65W or 30W, which will still work but won't be as quick.
Inspect Your Cable and Port
The special red cable that comes in the box isn't just for show. It has extra pins inside to handle the high power flow of SuperVOOC. If you've swapped it for a standard USB-C cable, you've lost fast charging. Make sure you're using the correct one.
Also, take a close look at the USB-C port on your phone. Pocket lint and dust can compact over time, preventing the cable from seating fully. This creates a poor connection that limits power. Gently clean the port with a wooden toothpick or a soft brush, being careful not to damage the central connector.
Let Your Phone Cool Down
The OnePlus 13 is powerful, and that can generate heat, especially during gaming sessions. If the phone's temperature gets too high, the system will automatically throttle charging speed to protect the battery. You might see a message on screen about charging pausing due to temperature.
If the phone feels warm to the touch, take it off the charger for a few minutes. Move it to a cooler, hard surface like a table instead of a soft bed or couch. Removing your case can also help it dissipate heat faster and resume normal charging.
Perform a Quick Restart
A simple software glitch can sometimes confuse the power management chip. Press and hold the Volume Down button and the Power button together for about 10 seconds until you feel a vibration and the OnePlus logo appears. This force restarts the device and can clear up temporary bugs affecting charging.
Check Your Wireless Charger
If you're using wireless charging and it feels slow, remember the specs. The OnePlus 13 supports up to 50W wireless charging, but only with a compatible OnePlus AirVOOC charger. Using a standard Qi or even a Qi2/MagSafe charger will result in significantly slower speeds, typically capping at 15W.
Also, make sure the charging coil on the pad aligns properly with the center of your phone's back. Thick cases can interfere, so try charging without the case for the best results.
Update OxygenOS
Early software builds for new phones often have bugs. OnePlus releases updates that can optimize battery management and fix charging-related issues. Go to Settings > About device > OxygenOS version and tap on the top banner to check for an update. Installing the latest software is one of the easiest fixes for inconsistent behavior.
Review Battery Settings
Head to Settings > Battery. Look for any settings related to smart charging or battery optimization. Some modes, like a "Sleep Standby Optimization" or scheduled charging, might adjust how power is delivered. Temporarily disabling these features can help you determine if they're causing the slow charge.
Also, check the battery health section if available. While a degraded battery is unlikely on a new phone, the software will report if there's an issue affecting performance.
Test with Different Outlets and Power Sources
Try plugging your charger into a different wall outlet. Some power strips or older outlets might not deliver consistent power. Avoid charging from low-power sources like your laptop's USB port, a car charger (unless it's a high-wattage model), or a bedside clock outlet, as these cannot provide the necessary power for fast charging.
