When your OnePlus 12 won't charge wirelessly, it's often a simple alignment or accessory issue rather than a serious hardware fault. The phone's 50W AIRVOOC wireless charging is powerful, but it needs the right conditions to work. Let's get it charging again.

Center Your Phone on the Charger

The wireless charging coil in the OnePlus 12 needs to line up almost perfectly with the coil in the pad. Place the phone dead center on the charging surface. You should see a charging animation or hear a tone. Being off by even a small amount can prevent the connection from starting, especially with fast 50W chargers.

Take Off Your Phone Case

This is a very common fix. Thick cases, especially those with metal plates, magnetic rings, or built-in card holders, can block the wireless signal. Pop the case off and try charging the bare phone. If it works, you'll need a case specifically rated as compatible with wireless charging.

Verify Your Charger and Power Source

Make sure your wireless charger is plugged into a working outlet. For the full 50W AIRVOOC speed, you must use the official OnePlus 100W SUPERVOOC power adapter and cable that came with the phone. Using a generic USB-C PD charger will drastically reduce the wireless charging speed, sometimes to a trickle that feels like it's not working.

Check the charger for any indicator lights. If there are none, try a different wall outlet and cable. A weak power source is a frequent culprit for unreliable wireless charging.

Perform a Force Restart

A quick software refresh can clear up glitches that stop the phone from recognizing a charger. Press and hold the Power button for 10 to 15 seconds until you feel a vibration and see the OnePlus logo appear on screen. This force restarts the phone without deleting any data. Try placing it on the charger again afterward.

Clean the Phone and Charger Surface

Dust, lint, or other debris on the back glass of your OnePlus 12 or on the charging pad can create a gap that disrupts charging. Wipe both surfaces clean with a dry, soft cloth. Pay special attention to the center of the phone's back where the coil is located.

Check for Software Updates

Go to Settings > About device > OxygenOS version and tap on the top banner to check for updates. OnePlus regularly releases updates that can improve charging stability and fix bugs. Installing the latest OxygenOS version is a good step to rule out a software-related issue.

Let Your Phone Cool Down

Fast wireless charging generates heat. If your OnePlus 12 gets too hot, it will automatically slow down or stop charging to protect the battery. This can happen if you're using the phone for gaming or video while it's on the charger. Remove it from the pad, let it cool for a few minutes, and try again.

Review Your Battery Settings

Head to Settings > Battery. Look for a feature called "Optimized charging." When enabled, this learns your routine and may intentionally delay charging past 80% overnight. If your phone seems stuck at 80%, this is likely why. You can toggle it off temporarily to test.

Also, ensure "Wireless charging" isn't accidentally disabled in any battery optimization or sleep standby menus within the settings.

Test With a Different Wireless Charger

If you have access to another Qi or AIRVOOC charger, give it a try. If your OnePlus 12 charges on a different pad, then the original charger is faulty. If it still refuses to charge on any wireless pad, the issue is likely with the phone's hardware. Remember, for the fastest speeds, a charger that supports OnePlus's AIRVOOC protocol is best.
