We're only halfway through July, but it's never too early to start looking ahead. As we do around this time every month, we're taking stock of what's confirmed for Xbox Game Pass in August 2026, and so far, five games are locked in for next month. With a mix of day-one launches, Game Preview titles, and a major sequel from a beloved franchise, August is shaping up to be a strong month for subscribers.
Here's what's currently scheduled to hit Game Pass in August 2026:
Beast of Reincarnation, August 4
Kicking off the month in style is Beast of Reincarnation, the latest game from Pokémon developer Game Freak. This action-RPG was one of the highlights of Xbox's Developer Direct earlier this year, and it launches on August 4 as a day-one Game Pass Ultimate title.
Set in a post-apocalyptic Japan, the story follows Emma, an outcast shunned for her affliction, and Koo, her loyal blighted dog. Together, they embark on an expansive adventure through a beautiful yet harsh world where forests suddenly burst forth amidst the wasteland.
Players can customize their playstyle with unique skill trees, gear, and spirit stones, supporting ranged, stealthy, and aggressive combat approaches.
This marks one of Game Freak's most ambitious multiplatform releases to date, and its arrival on Game Pass day one is a huge win for subscribers.
Monsters Are Coming! Rock & Road, August 6
Next up is Monsters Are Coming! Rock & Road, a tower-survivor rogue-lite from publisher Raw Fury and developer Ludogram.
Launching on August 6 for Xbox Series X|S, it will also be available via Game Pass. In this chaotic horde-defense title, you protect an ever-moving city from unrelenting monster waves. Gather resources, fortify defenses, and boost your potential through enhanced player progression as you fight to reach the Ark.
It's a frantic, colorful addition to the Game Pass lineup that should appeal to fans of the survivor-lite genre.
Sandustry, August 13
Coming mid-month is Sandustry, a sandbox mining and automation game launching into Game Preview on August 13. Note that this one is PC-only, it's coming to PC Game Pass but not to Xbox consoles at this stage.
Developed by Hooded Horse (the publisher behind hits like Manor Lords), Sandustry lets players explore and mine fully destructible worlds, then automate increasingly complex production chains. It's entering Early Access on Steam, GOG, and the Microsoft Store simultaneously, with PC Game Pass subscribers getting day-one access.
If you've been looking for a new factory-builder or automation sandbox to sink your teeth into, this could be the one.
Grave Seasons, August 14 (or August 15)
What happens when you cross a cozy farming sim with a supernatural murder mystery? You get Grave Seasons, the debut game from Blumhouse Games and developer Perfect Garbage.
It launches on August 14 (some sources list August 15) across PC, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch, with day-one Game Pass support.
Set in the town of Ashenridge, Grave Seasons tasks you with growing crops, building relationships, and uncovering the identity of a serial killer before the body count rises. It's a clever twist on the farming sim formula.
The pixel-art life sim mechanics are familiar and comforting, but every conversation and relationship carries an undercurrent of tension. The game was revealed during an Xbox Partner Preview earlier this year and has quickly become one of the most anticipated indie horror releases of the summer.
Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy, August 27
Rounding out the month is the biggest name on this list. Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy, the highly anticipated prequel to Asobo Studio's award-winning series, arrives on August 27 as a day-one Game Pass title across console, PC, and cloud.
Set 15 years before A Plague Tale: Innocence, the game follows Sophia, a fierce fighter raised within one of Venice's most feared gangs. Forced to leave everything behind, she sets sail toward the Minotaur island accompanied by Leni, her closest friend, to uncover the truth behind her past and the mysterious visions that have haunted her since childhood.
This entry represents a shift in gameplay for the series. Sophia is a natural fighter, so combat is more direct and dynamic than in previous games, with one-against-many encounters, fluid traversal, and aggressive combat options. The game also expands the lore of the Macula curse in unexpected ways, drawing inspiration from Greek mythology.
Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy was revealed during the Xbox Games Showcase in June 2026 and has already gone gold, meaning development is complete and it will ship as scheduled. It also supports Xbox Play Anywhere, so you can play across console and PC at no additional cost.
More to Come
Of course, five games is just what's confirmed so far. Microsoft typically announces its full monthly waves in two batches: a Wave 1 lineup in early August and a Wave 2 lineup around mid-month, so we can expect several more titles to be revealed in the coming weeks.
We'll keep you updated as those announcements roll in. Which of these five are you most excited to play? Let us know in the comments.
