Samsung took the wraps off the Galaxy M47 in India on Monday, and the headline numbers tell the story: a 6,000mAh battery, Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 silicon, and a promise of six Android OS upgrades. At a starting price of Rs. 22,999 (roughly $243), Samsung is aiming squarely at the sub-25,000 rupee market where battery life and update longevity increasingly decide buyer choice.
The 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display runs at Full HD+ resolution with a 120Hz refresh rate, protected by Gorilla Glass Victus+. Samsung offers the phone in Rogue Red and Blaze Blue, with the display housing a centered punch-hole for the 12-megapixel front camera.
Under the hood, Qualcomm's Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset (built on a 4nm process) pairs with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. Buyers can choose between 6GB or 8GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of storage, expandable up to 2TB via hybrid microSD slot. The octa-core CPU features four Cortex-A78 performance cores clocked at 2.4GHz and four Cortex-A55 efficiency cores at 1.8GHz, backed by an Adreno 710 GPU.
The 6,000mAh battery supports 45W wired charging, but the more interesting addition is bypass charging. The feature lets the phone draw power directly from the charger during gaming rather than routing it through the battery, which reduces heat buildup and keeps performance stable during extended sessions.
Samsung fitted a triple rear camera array inside a pill-shaped island: a 50-megapixel main sensor with optical image stabilization, a 5-megapixel ultrawide, and a 2-megapixel macro shooter. Both the rear and front cameras can record 4K video.
One UI 8.5 based on Android 16 ships out of the box, and Samsung is committing to six generations of OS upgrades plus six years of security patches. That puts the M47 in rare company among mid-range phones for long-term software support.
AI tools including Circle to Search, Google Gemini, and AI Voice Transcription come preloaded, with Knox Vault handling security. The Galaxy M47 goes on sale July 4 via Amazon and Samsung's own website.
Bank card discounts can knock the effective price down to roughly Rs. 20,999, and no-cost EMI options are available.
