A two-month delay for Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP's Nintendo Switch 2 Edition reveals unexpected development hurdles affecting both the upcoming hardware and current Switch versions.
Developer Dragami Games pushed the release from March 26 to May 28 after determining "significant revisions" were needed for both platforms. The Switch 2 Edition launches May 28 for $54.99 (7,590 yen), with existing Switch owners able to upgrade via a $9.99 (1,100 yen) pack. This pricing follows similar upgrade paths seen with other titles like Dark Auction, which offers a 100 yen conversion to its Switch 2 version arriving June 11.
Originally scheduled alongside a free "Burlesque Bunny" costume release, both content drops now face adjusted timing. The costume design contest winners from last year's competition will roll out sequentially instead, starting with "Die Hard Patriot" in early March for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC platforms.
Switch owners must wait longer for these cosmetic additions as development resources concentrate on the Switch 2 conversion. The patriotic-themed outfit features bikini and hot pants inspired by the American flag, joining two other winning designs still in active development.
Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP first arrived on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series consoles, Switch, and Steam in September 2024 before expanding to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One that December. The remastered hack-and-slash title surpassed 300,000 units on August 12, 2025 according to developer figures.
The delay announcement comes amid broader Nintendo ecosystem transitions highlighted in February's Partner Showcase. That presentation featured multiple titles targeting both current Switch and upcoming Switch 2 hardware, including surprise drops like Hollow Knight's enhanced edition offering free upgrades to existing owners.
"Dragami Games apologized to fans anticipating the March release while committing to deliver new content 'as early as possible.'"
Further update details will appear on the company's official X account (@Dragami_Games) once finalized.
