Google Meet is now able to capture notes for face-to-face meetings, not just video calls, with the new "Take notes for me" feature rolling out to users. The feature, announced on the Google Workspace Updates blog, lets users launch a session directly from the Google Meet home screen on web or mobile by selecting the "Take notes" button.
Once recording begins, Gemini actively captures the discussion and automatically compiles a structured notes summary, action items, and a complete transcript into a Google Doc. That document is saved directly to Google Drive, and the link is emailed to the user.
When the meeting finishes, users press the button again to conclude audio capture.
For administrators, the feature is controlled by existing Google Meet notes settings, so there's nothing new to configure. The rollout is underway across platforms, with availability tied to the Google Meet home screen experience on both web and mobile devices.
Google says the change is part of its push to make Google Meet "the home for all of your meetings," expanding beyond video calls to support in-person collaboration.
