Daybreak Game Company and Cold Iron Studios revealed that a Nintendo Switch 2 version of Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 is on the way, with the sequel launching on the console this Autumn. The announcement arrived alongside a new co-op showcase trailer for the game.
The sequel expands the cooperative third-person survival shooter from three to four players, dropping squads into the boots of Colonial Marines deployed across the Alien universe. Deeper squad mechanics, smarter enemies, and a fully customizable Specialist class anchor the experience, with the new class letting players mix major and minor abilities from every available class to build a custom loadout.
The iconic xenomorphs return with a massive variety of new enemy types that force players to stay mobile and use every tool at their disposal. Combat options range from stun batons for close-quarters melee to pyro and electric ammo for thinning out the swarm before it overruns the squad.
Beyond expanded weapon and gear customization, the game ships with multiple dedicated Horde maps where squads battle escalating waves for increasingly valuable rewards.
The Switch 2 version marks a notable shift for the franchise on Nintendo hardware. Aliens: Fireteam Elite previously came to Nintendo Switch as a cloud version, but that title was delisted earlier this year with its servers now shut down.
The sequel arrives as a Switch 2 release rather than a streaming-based offering.
The developer describes Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 as a "thrilling co-op survival horror shooter," with the team promising more details in the coming weeks as the Autumn release approaches. The Switch 2 launch joins a broader Alien push on the platform, following the earlier announcement of a Switch 2 version of Alien: Isolation 2 for 2027.
