If your Huawei Pura 70 Pro is running out of juice way too quickly, you're not alone. The combination of a powerful display and the Kirin 9010 chip can be demanding, but there are several settings you can adjust to get your battery life back on track. Let's start with the most effective check.

Check Battery Health and Usage

Before changing a bunch of settings, it's smart to see what's actually using your power. Head to Settings > Battery. Here, you'll find a breakdown of app usage over the last 24 hours or 7 days.

Look for any apps showing unusually high background activity. Since the Pura 70 Pro doesn't have Google Play Services, some sideloaded apps might not be optimized for EMUI 14.2 and could drain power in the background. This screen is your best clue.

Manage Display and Performance

The screen is often the biggest battery user. Lowering the brightness manually or enabling Auto-Brightness in Settings > Display & Brightness makes a big difference. I'd also recommend setting a shorter screen timeout, like 30 seconds.

Enable Dark Mode from the same settings menu or the quick settings panel. With an OLED display, showing black pixels actually turns them off, saving power. You can also reduce motion effects by going to Settings > Accessibility > Display & Text Size and toggling on Remove Animations.

Control Background Activity and Connectivity

Background app refresh is a common culprit. Go to Settings > Apps > Apps Startup. Here, you can manage which apps are allowed to launch automatically or run in the background. Be strict here, especially with apps you installed from outside the Huawei AppGallery.

Turn off Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and NFC when you're not using them. You can do this quickly from the notification shade. Also, check your location settings. Go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services and set apps to "Only while using the app" instead of "Always."

Optimize App Behavior and Updates

For email and social media apps, change the sync frequency. Instead of "Push," set them to fetch data every hour or manually. This prevents constant background checks for new data. You'll usually find this in the individual app's settings.

Make sure your apps are up to date through the Huawei AppGallery. Developers often release optimizations that improve battery efficiency. Also, uninstall apps you truly never use. Long-press on the home screen, tap the app, and select uninstall.

Use Huawei's Built-in Battery Tools

Don't overlook the power-saving modes built into EMUI. You can enable Power saving mode or the more aggressive Ultra power saving mode from Settings > Battery. These limit background processes, reduce performance, and can really extend your time between charges.

There's also a useful setting called "App launch" within the Battery menu. Set it to "Manage all automatically" to let the system intelligently restrict background activity for apps you rarely use.

Check for System Updates

Huawei frequently releases software updates that include performance and battery optimizations. Go to Settings > System & updates > Software update and tap "Check for updates." Installing the latest version of EMUI can resolve bugs that cause excessive drain.

Reset or Force Restart

If the drain started suddenly after a recent app install or update, a force restart can clear out temporary glitches. Just press and hold the Power button for about 10 seconds until the phone vibrates and restarts. This doesn't delete any data.

For persistent, unexplained drain, you can try resetting your network settings. Go to Settings > System & updates > Reset > Reset network settings. This will erase Wi-Fi passwords and Bluetooth pairings, but it can fix issues related to the modem or connectivity constantly searching for a signal.

Monitor Signal Strength and Heat

If you're often in an area with weak 5G or cellular signal, your phone works harder to maintain a connection, which drains the battery faster. In these situations, consider switching to 4G only. You can change this in Settings > Mobile network > Mobile data.

Also, avoid letting the phone get too hot, as high temperatures accelerate battery drain and long-term degradation. Don't leave it in direct sunlight, and take it out of thick cases while using the super-fast 100W wired or 80W wireless charging.
