Your Nothing Phone 2a stores temporary files and cached data to help apps load faster. Over time, this cache can build up and take up valuable storage space, or even cause apps to freeze or crash. Clearing it out is a quick way to free up space and often solves minor performance hiccups.

Clear Cache for Individual Apps

Start by tackling the apps that use the most data, like your browser, social media apps, or streaming services. Go to Settings > Apps and select the app you want to clean. Tap on Storage & cache.

You'll see two options: Clear storage and Clear cache. Tap Clear cache. This safely removes the temporary files the app has stored without deleting your login information or personal data saved within the app itself.

Use the Built-in Storage Cleaner

Nothing OS includes a handy tool for this. Head to Settings > Storage > Cleaner. The phone will analyze your storage and show you categories like Cache and Temporary files. You can review what it finds and tap to clear them all at once.

I find this is the fastest way to get a significant chunk of space back without having to go through each app one by one. It's a great first step if your phone is feeling sluggish.

Clear Your Browser Cache

If you use Chrome, open the app and tap the three dots in the top right. Go to Settings > Privacy and security > Clear browsing data. Under the "Basic" tab, make sure Cached images and files is selected.

You can choose a time range, but "All time" will give you the most space back. Tap Clear data. This won't log you out of your websites unless you also clear cookies and site data.

Restart Your Phone Regularly

This is the simplest trick in the book. Holding the power button and tapping restart clears out temporary system caches and frees up RAM that apps have left behind. I make a habit of restarting my Phone 2a once a week.

If an app is acting up, a restart is always the first thing I try. It's surprising how often it resolves little glitches without any deeper troubleshooting needed.

Check What's Using Your Storage

For a detailed breakdown, go to Settings > Storage. Here you can see exactly what's filling your phone, categorized into Apps, Images, Videos, and more. Tap into each category to manage files.

This view is useful for finding large old downloads or identifying which apps are the real storage hogs, so you know exactly where to focus your cleanup efforts.

Manage Photos and Media

The Photos and Videos sections often hold the largest files. Consider using Google Photos to back up your pictures to the cloud. Once they're backed up, you can use the "Free up space" feature within Google Photos to remove the local copies from your Phone 2a.

Also, don't forget to check your Downloads folder. It's easy for large PDFs, APK files, or other documents to accumulate there and be forgotten.

Use the Files by Google App

For a more powerful cleanup, install Files by Google from the Play Store. Open it and tap the Clean button on the bottom left. The app excels at finding junk files, duplicate photos, and unused apps.

It gives you clear control over what to delete and is one of the best free tools for keeping your Android storage organized and clutter-free.
