When creating your Reddit account, you can choose a username that you like. But once you create it and confirm, it cannot be changed later.

Display Name

There is an optional display name field on your profile page (Edit section). The display name is not as essential as the username; however, the username is always shown when posting something, so other users always see it with your content.

The display name is not under the headlights as the username, so if you want to have a funny or popular name, you should consider setting it as your display name. Also, the display name can be changed. All you need to do is follow the steps below to have it changed.

Steps to change the display name

Tap on your profile icon at the top-right section of the screen
Tap on "My Profile"

Then, tap on the "Edit" button

You will see the option to edit your display name. Once you decide which display name to set, do so and make sure to save the changes.

Username reset

Although you cannot change the username on Reddit, you can reset it if you have forgotten it. Go to your email inbox and find the email that Reddit sent you to verify the account when signing up. Open it and find the link that was sent to you.

Now, click the link again, which should lead you to the box containing the username you chose while registering. However, if you don’t like the username you selected earlier, you can always create a new account and set the proper name this time.

Create a new account

You don’t have to delete the existing one to create a new account. All you need to do is open the Reddit web page and click the Sign-up button in the upper right corner of the screen. A new window will appear asking you to type in your email address.

Now proceed to the username and password settings. This time, choose the one you will be happy with and set the password. The last option is to check the box to confirm that you are not a robot.
