When the hotspot on your Honor Magic 7 Pro stops working, it can leave your laptop or tablet stranded without internet. Whether other devices can't see it, fail to connect, or get kicked off, there are several straightforward fixes to try.

Toggle the Hotspot Off and On

Head into your phone's Settings > Mobile network > Personal hotspot and turn the toggle off. Wait a moment, then switch it back on. This quick reset clears any temporary software glitches in the hotspot service and is often all you need to do.

Restart Your Honor Magic 7 Pro

Press and hold the Power button for about 10 seconds until you feel a vibration and see the Honor logo. This force restart is a bit different from the standard shutdown, and it's great for clearing out any stuck background processes that might be interfering with the hotspot.

Verify Your Mobile Data Connection

The hotspot relies entirely on your phone's cellular data. Swipe down for the Quick Settings panel and make sure mobile data is enabled. If you're in an area with a weak signal, the hotspot will struggle. Also, double-check with your carrier that your plan includes tethering, as some budget plans restrict it.

Check for a Data Limit or APN Issue

In Settings > Mobile network > Data usage, see if you've hit any daily or monthly data cap that might be throttling or cutting off your connection. Also, go to Settings > Mobile network > Access Point Names (APN) and ensure the correct APN for your carrier is selected. An incorrect APN can break data sharing.

Reset Your Network Settings

Go to Settings > System & updates > Reset > Reset network settings. This will erase all your saved Wi-Fi networks, Bluetooth pairings, and mobile data settings, then rebuild them. You'll need to reconnect to Wi-Fi networks afterward, but it resolves many persistent connectivity problems, including hotspot failures.

Forget and Reconnect on the Other Device

On the laptop or tablet that won't connect, go into its Wi-Fi settings and find your phone's hotspot network. Choose to "Forget" or remove it from the list. Then, search for available networks again, select your phone, and enter the password fresh. A corrupted connection profile on the client device is a common culprit.

Change Your Hotspot Name and Password

In your phone's hotspot settings, tap on Set up Wi-Fi hotspot. Here, you can change both the network name (SSID) and the password. Save the new settings, then have your other device search for the new network name and connect with the new password. This forces a completely new connection handshake.

Try USB Tethering Instead

If the Wi-Fi hotspot is being stubborn, a wired connection is often more reliable. Connect your Honor Magic 7 Pro to your computer using a USB-C cable. On your phone, go to Settings > Mobile network > Personal hotspot and enable USB tethering. Your computer should recognize it as a new network adapter almost instantly.

Update Your Phone's Software

Software bugs in MagicOS can affect the hotspot. Go to Settings > System & updates > Software update and tap on Check for updates. If an update is available, install it. I've seen updates specifically mention fixes for network and connectivity issues, which includes the hotspot feature.

Contact Your Mobile Carrier

If you've tried everything and the hotspot still won't work, the issue might be on your carrier's end. They could have a temporary network problem in your area, a provisioning error on your account, or a plan restriction you weren't aware of. A quick call to their support can confirm if the hotspot service is active for your line.
