Power-cycle the Eero Pro 7 satellite first. Unplug it from the wall, wait 30 seconds, plug it back in. Give it a full 5 minutes to re-establish the link with the main gateway, the LED should go from flashing white to solid white or blue.

This clears most transient sync failures. If the satellite still shows as disconnected in the Eero app, work through the rest.

What the LED Is Telling You

The Eero Pro 7 uses a single LED that changes color based on state. Solid white means it's connected and healthy. Flashing white means it's booting up or attempting to sync. Blinking blue means it's waiting to be set up, this usually happens after a reset that went further than intended. Yellow during a button press signals a soft reset is in progress. Red during a longer hold means you're doing a factory reset.

If the LED is off, check power. If it's stuck on flashing white after 5 minutes, it's not finding the gateway.

Check the Distance from the Main Gateway

The Eero Pro 7 uses a tri-band backhaul that automatically picks the best band, usually the 6 GHz when available. That high‑speed backhaul is more sensitive to walls and distance than 5 GHz. If your satellite is more than two rooms away or on a different floor, try moving it closer (even temporarily) to see if it connects.

Once it shows solid white, you can move it back gradually. The Eero app's placement test (under Settings > Troubleshooting) will tell you if the signal quality is acceptable.

Force a Soft Reset Without Wiping Settings

Find the small recessed button on the back of the satellite. Use a paperclip to press and hold it for about 7 seconds, until the LED flashes yellow. Release it. The satellite will reboot without losing its network configuration. This is different from a factory reset and is the best way to clear a stuck sync without needing to re‑pair.

Let the LED settle for 3 5 minutes. If it goes solid white, you're good.

Update the Firmware via the Eero App

Firmware updates on Eero Pro 7 happen automatically, but sometimes a node falls behind if it was offline when the update rolled out. Open the Eero app, tap Settings, then Troubleshooting, then Check for updates. The app will show if the gateway and satellite are on the same version.

A mismatch can prevent the satellite from pairing. If an update is available for the satellite, apply it and wait for a reboot.

Check Whether an Ethernet Backhaul Cable Was Added or Removed

The Eero Pro 7's 5 GbE ports are auto‑sensing, meaning plugging in an Ethernet cable between the gateway and satellite can trigger a backhaul handoff. If you recently added or removed a wired run, the satellite might get stuck mid‑transition, trying to switch from wireless to wired backhaul and failing.

Restore the previous cabling state, then power‑cycle the satellite. If you want the change to stick, leave the cable in place, power‑cycle both the gateway and the satellite, and let the system re‑elect the backhaul method on its own.

Remove and Re‑Add the Satellite in the App

If the satellite still won't connect, remove it from your network completely. Open the Eero app, tap the satellite's name, scroll to the bottom, and select Remove this eero. Wait for the confirmation, then tap the plus icon at the top of the main screen and select Add or set up a new eero.

Follow the on‑screen steps to re‑pair the satellite. This forces a fresh handshake with the gateway and clears any corrupted pairing data.

Factory Reset the Satellite as a Last Resort

Hold the reset button on the back of the satellite for about 15 seconds. The LED will flash yellow first, then turn red, that's the factory reset trigger. Keep holding until the LED starts flashing red. Release, and the satellite will reboot: first a white flash, then blinking blue when it's ready for setup. This wipes all local settings and returns the node to out‑of‑box state.

Use the Eero app's "Add a new eero" flow to set it up again from scratch. Plan about 10 minutes for the full process.

If none of these steps get the satellite back online, the hardware itself could be faulty, but the steps above cover the vast majority of cases.
