If your CMF Phone 2 Pro is taking forever to charge, it's likely not hitting its 33W fast charging potential. The phone doesn't come with a charger in the box, so the one you're using might not be up to the task. A slow charge can turn a quick top-up into a multi-hour wait.
Check Your Charger and Cable
This is the most common culprit. The CMF Phone 2 Pro needs a USB-C Power Delivery (PD) charger rated for 33W or higher to achieve its maximum speed. Many older or generic chargers only output 10W or 18W. Look at the fine print on your adapter's label to confirm its wattage.
You also need a high-quality USB-C to USB-C cable that supports the necessary power throughput. The cable that came with the phone is designed for it, but if you're using a different one, it might be the bottleneck. I'd start by verifying you have a proper 33W+ PD charger, as that's the fix for most people.
Inspect the USB-C Port
Take a close look at the charging port on the bottom of your phone. Pocket lint and dust can compact over time, creating a physical barrier that prevents the cable from seating fully. This leads to a weak connection that can't handle fast charging currents.
Power the phone off first for safety. Then, use a wooden toothpick or a plastic dental pick to gently scrape around the inside of the port. You'll be surprised how much material can come out. Avoid using metal, like a paperclip, as it can damage the delicate pins.
Let the Phone Cool Down
The phone's software will intentionally throttle charging speed if the battery gets too warm. This is a safety feature. If you've been using the phone heavily or it's in a hot environment, let it cool off for a few minutes before plugging it in.
Also, consider removing the back case while charging, especially if it's thick. The plastic back panel can trap heat. For the fastest charge, place it on a cool, hard surface like a table instead of a soft bed or couch.
Perform a Force Restart
A minor software glitch can sometimes confuse the power management system. A quick reboot can clear this up. Simply press and hold the Power button for about 10 seconds, until you see the Nothing logo appear as the phone restarts.
This doesn't erase any data. After it boots back up, try plugging it in again. It's a simple step, but I've seen it resolve odd charging behavior more times than I can count.
Update Nothing OS
Nothing occasionally releases software updates that optimize performance and fix bugs, including those related to power management. Go to Settings > System > System update and tap "Check for update."
Running the latest version of Nothing OS 3.0 ensures your phone has the most refined charging algorithms. If an update is available, install it while your phone is connected to Wi-Fi and has sufficient battery.
Avoid Using the Phone While Charging
If you're gaming, streaming video, or using GPS navigation while plugged in, you're fighting against the charger. The power coming in is being split between replenishing the battery and running the demanding tasks, which also generates heat.
For the absolute fastest charge, just let it sit. If you need to use it, stick to lighter tasks like reading or messaging. Putting the phone in Airplane Mode can also help speed things up by cutting off battery-draining radios.
Try a Different Outlet and Setup
Eliminate other variables. Try a different wall outlet in case the first one is faulty. Also, avoid plugging into low-power sources like older laptops, car chargers, or cheap power strips, as they often can't provide the stable, high wattage needed.
If you have access to another high-wattage USB-C PD charger and cable, test with that combination. If fast charging works with the new gear, you've identified your original charger or cable as the problem.
