Seeing "Call Failed" or just not being able to connect a call on your CMF Phone 2 Pro can stop you in your tracks. This usually means your phone is having trouble communicating with your carrier's network. A weak signal, a minor software hiccup in Nothing OS, or a simple setting can often be the culprit.

Let's start with the quickest fixes you can try right now, which often solve the problem in under a minute.

Toggle Airplane Mode On and Off

This is the fastest way to refresh your cellular connection. It forces your phone to disconnect from the mobile network and reconnect, clearing any temporary glitches.

Swipe down from the top of your screen to open the Quick Settings panel. Tap the airplane icon to turn Airplane Mode on. Wait about 15 seconds, then tap it again to turn it off. You should see your signal bars reappear.

Check Your Signal Strength

Look at the signal indicator in the top-right corner of your screen. If you only have one bar or see an "X," you're in a weak coverage area.

Move to a different room, near a window, or step outside. Buildings and thick walls can significantly block cellular signals. If you're indoors, this is often the first thing to check.

Force Restart Your CMF Phone 2 Pro

A simple reboot can clear out temporary software bugs that might be affecting the phone app or radio. Press and hold the power button on the side of the phone for about 10 seconds, or until you see the screen go black and the Nothing logo reappear.

This is different from a normal restart and can resolve deeper glitches. It's a good step to try after toggling airplane mode.

Verify Do Not Disturb and Focus Modes

Nothing OS includes Focus modes that can silence calls. Make sure you haven't accidentally activated one that's blocking incoming calls.

Swipe down from the top and look for a moon or other Focus icon in the status bar. You can also go to Settings > Sound & vibration > Do Not Disturb to check the schedule and rules.

Check for a Carrier Settings Update

Sometimes your mobile carrier pushes small updates that improve network connectivity. These happen automatically, but it's worth checking.

Make sure you're connected to Wi-Fi, then go to Settings > System > Carrier settings. If an update is available, you'll usually see a prompt here to install it.

Reinsert Your SIM Card

The SIM tray on the CMF Phone 2 Pro can be accessed with the included tool or a small paperclip. A loose or dusty SIM card can cause connection problems.

Gently eject the tray, remove the SIM card, and blow any dust out of the slot. Reinsert the SIM card firmly, making sure it's seated correctly in the tray, and push the tray back in until it clicks.

Update Nothing OS Software

Software updates frequently include bug fixes for network and calling issues. It's a good idea to make sure you're running the latest version of Nothing OS.

Go to Settings > System > System update. Tap "Check for update." If an update is available, connect to Wi-Fi and follow the prompts to install it. I've seen updates resolve call dropout issues on other Nothing phones.

Reset Your Network Settings

This will erase all your saved Wi-Fi networks, Bluetooth pairings, and cellular network preferences. It's a more thorough reset that can fix persistent calling problems without touching your personal data.

Go to Settings > System > Reset options. Tap "Reset Wi-Fi, mobile & Bluetooth." Confirm by entering your PIN or password. Your phone will reboot, and you'll need to reconnect to Wi-Fi and re-pair Bluetooth devices.

Check Your Preferred Network Type

In some areas with spotty 5G coverage, forcing your phone to use 4G/LTE can provide a more stable connection for calls. You can change this setting temporarily to test.

Navigate to Settings > Network & internet > SIMs. Select your active SIM and tap "Preferred network type." Try switching from "5G" to "4G" and see if your call reliability improves.

Contact Your Mobile Carrier

If you've tried everything and calls are still failing, the issue might be on your carrier's end. There could be a local network outage, a problem with your account, or your SIM card might be faulty.

Call their customer support from another phone if possible. Ask them to check for outages and verify your line is active and provisioned correctly for voice calls. They can also send you a replacement SIM card, which sometimes solves mysterious connection issues.
