Your Brother HL-L2350DW goes through the motions, paper feeds, the drum spins, pages eject, but every sheet comes out completely blank. With a mono laser printer, blank output almost always means the toner isn't transferring to the paper. Unlike inkjets, there's no print head to clog; the issue usually traces to the toner cartridge itself, the drum, or the fuser unit.
Start with the simplest check: toner level. Press Menu on the control panel, use the arrow keys to navigate to Machine Info. > Print Settings, and confirm it prints a settings page. If that page is also blank, the printer isn't marking paper at all. If the settings page prints fine but your documents are blank, the issue is on the sending side.
Check the Toner Cartridge Seals
The HL-L2350DW uses TN-730 or TN-760 toner cartridges, and each one ships with a protective seal that must be removed before installation. If you just swapped in a new cartridge and started getting blank pages, that seal is the first thing to check.
Open the top cover and pull the toner cartridge and drum unit out as one assembly. Press the green lock lever and separate the toner cartridge from the drum. Look at the bottom of the toner cartridge, there's a plastic pull-tab or tape that covers the toner outlet. If it's still there, pull it straight out and reseat the cartridge into the drum unit. Slide the assembly back into the printer, close the cover, and print a test page.
Run the Printer's Internal Test Print
The HL-L2350DW has a self-diagnostic test that bypasses your computer entirely. Press Go four times within five seconds while the printer is idle (Ready status shows on the display). The printer will feed a sheet and print a diagnostic report showing the toner density and a test pattern.
If this test page is blank, the printer's imaging system isn't functioning, toner cartridge, drum, or fuser hardware. If the test page prints clean, the issue is in your document, driver, or connection settings.
Reseat the Toner and Drum Assembly
Sometimes the cartridge looks installed but doesn't make proper contact with the transfer roller. Open the top cover, lift the blue tabs on each side, and pull the entire drum and toner assembly straight out. Check that the toner cartridge is fully seated inside the drum unit, it should click when you press it down into the grooves.
Slide the assembly back in until it locks. Close the cover and wait for Ready to appear. Then print a test page. A poor contact between the cartridge and drum is one of the most common causes of blank pages on this model.
Is the Starter Toner Simply Empty?
The HL-L2350DW ships with a "starter" TN-730 toner cartridge that only prints about 1,200 pages, significantly less than the standard TN-730 (about 1,500 pages) or the high-yield TN-760 (about 3,000 pages). If you've been using the printer heavily and haven't replaced the toner yet, it's very possible the starter cartridge ran dry earlier than you expected.
The printer might not show a clear "Toner Empty" error, sometimes it just keeps feeding blank pages. Press Menu > Machine Info. > Print Settings and look at the report for a toner estimate value. If it's at or near zero, install a fresh TN-730 or upgrade to a TN-760 for longer run time.
Check the Drum Unit
If the toner cartridge isn't the problem, the drum unit (part of the same DR-730 assembly) might be at the end of its life. The drum gradually wears out and stops transferring toner to paper efficiently. A worn drum can produce fading output, blank streaks, or entirely blank pages even with a full toner cartridge.
The drum unit in the HL-L2350DW is rated for roughly 15,000 pages. If you're anywhere near that count and seeing blank output, replace the DR-730 drum. The drum and toner cartridge slide apart easily, just press the green lever after pulling the assembly out.
Verify the Paper Type Setting
The HL-L2350DW uses a fuser to melt toner onto the paper, and the fuser temperature varies based on the paper type setting. If you're printing on heavy paper, labels, or envelopes and the printer is set to Plain Paper, the fuser might not reach the right temperature to bond the toner, resulting in pages that look blank or have faint marks that rub off.
Press Menu > General Setup > Paper Type and match it to what's loaded in the tray. For standard copy paper, set it to Plain Paper. For heavier stock, use Thick Paper or Thicker Paper.
Check for a WiFi or Driver Problem
If the self-test print from the printer works fine but your computer prints blank, the data isn't making it to the printer correctly. This is especially common with the HL-L2350DW's 2.4 GHz only WiFi in crowded network environments. Open the Brother Mobile Connect app on your phone (iOS 14+ or Android 9+) and try printing a test page from there. If it works over WiFi Direct or AirPrint, the problem is in your computer's driver or a network conflict.
On Windows, go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers, right-click the HL-L2350DW, and select Printer Properties. Make sure the driver version isn't marked "Generic" or "Unknown." Reinstall the full driver from Brother's support page if needed.
Reset the Network and Reconnect
A flaky network connection can cause partial data loss that the printer interprets as a blank job. On the control panel, press Menu > Network > Network Reset, then press OK. The printer will reboot and clear all stored WiFi credentials. Reconnect using the Brother Mobile Connect app or by running the Wireless Setup wizard from the printer's menu.
Make sure your router is broadcasting a 2.4 GHz network specifically, the HL-L2350DW doesn't support 5 GHz. If your router uses a combined SSID for both bands, the printer may connect intermittently or fail to receive full page data.
When the Issue Is a Phantom Paper Jam
The HL-L2350DW has a known issue where the feed roller wears out after about five years, causing the printer to detect a jam that doesn't actually exist. When the printer thinks it's jammed, it may feed a blank page and stop mid-cycle. Open the back cover and check the rear paper path for any debris or worn rollers. If you see smooth, glazed spots on the roller surface, the roller needs replacing.
In the meantime, try feeding paper from the manual slot instead of the main tray. If blank-page output stops, the feed roller in the main tray is the culprit.
