The blinking light on the Powerbeats Pro 2 case means the earbuds are stuck advertising for a connection. They should stop flashing once they pair with something, but if no device picks up the signal, the light keeps going. The fix is usually quick, but you need to figure out what's blocking the handshake.

Start by making sure your iPhone is unlocked and within arm's reach of the open case. The pairing prompt in Settings > Bluetooth only appears when the iPhone is awake and unlocked. If you're on Android, open the Beats app and tap Pair, the buds will show up there if they're in pairing mode.

One quick prerequisite: confirm Bluetooth is enabled on your phone. On iPhone, swipe into Control Center and make sure the Bluetooth icon isn't grayed out. On Android, check Settings > Connections > Bluetooth and toggle it off and back on if needed.

Close the case and start fresh

If the case has been flashing for more than a minute without connecting, close the lid completely and wait about 30 seconds. Open it again near your unlocked phone. This resets the advertising timer and gives you a clean attempt. The case should start blinking again, but this time bring your phone close immediately.

A lot of the time this is all it takes. The Powerbeats Pro 2 just need a little nudge to sync the advertising state with your phone's Bluetooth scan.

Forget the earbuds from Bluetooth

If you've paired these earbuds to your phone before, the old saved record can block a fresh connection. On iPhone, go to Settings > Bluetooth, tap the (i) next to Powerbeats Pro 2 (they may show as Not Connected), then tap Forget This Device. On Android, go to Settings > Connected devices, find the earbuds, and tap Forget.

Now reopen the case near your phone. Since the device is no longer in the known list, your phone should treat the earbuds as new and offer a pairing prompt right away.

Perform a full reset

When forgetting the device doesn't help, a full reset clears out any internal pairing data that might be stuck. Place both earbuds in the case. With the lid open, press and hold the system button on the inside of the case for about 15 seconds. Wait until the front LEDs flash red, then white. That's the confirmation that the reset worked.

The earbuds will stay in pairing mode after the reset, but now they're starting from a clean state. Bring your phone close again and try pairing. This fixes the vast majority of stuck pairing issues.

One thing to note: the system button is inside the case, not on the back like on most other earbuds. Feel around near the hinge area, it's a small round button.

Check the case lid sensor

The Powerbeats Pro 2 case has a sensor that detects when the lid is opened. It's a known issue that this sensor can fail to register the lid opening properly, which keeps the earbuds stuck in pairing mode because the case thinks the lid is still closed. If the lights aren't behaving as expected, try opening the lid firmly and fully, then close it and open it again with a little more force.

You can also check if the sensor is working by taking one earbud out of the case and watching for the pairing light to change. If the sensor is finicky, the light might stay solid even with the lid open. In that case, a quick reset usually recalibrates the sensor.

Try a different device or the Beats app

If your phone still won't see the earbuds, bring the case near another iPhone, iPad, or Android phone. If they pair there, the issue was with your original phone's Bluetooth stack, not with the earbuds themselves. Once they connect to any device on your iCloud account, they automatically sync to all your other Apple devices.

On Android, the Beats app is the most reliable way to pair. Open the app, tap Connect New Device, and follow the on‑screen steps. The app can also install firmware updates that may fix pairing quirks.

Pair one earbud at a time

Sometimes the stereo handshake between both buds gets stuck, and the case never finishes advertising. Take one earbud out of the case and leave the other inside with the lid open. Bring just that single earbud near your phone and try pairing. Once it connects, drop it back in the case and take out the second one. The buds will sync with each other after both have paired.

This is a good last resort before assuming the hardware is defective. If none of these steps get the Powerbeats Pro 2 out of pairing mode, the earbuds themselves may have a hardware issue that needs attention.
