Seeing your Xiaomi 15 frozen on the boot logo is a stressful sight. The phone powers on, the logo appears, and then nothing happens. This boot loop is usually triggered by a failed software update, a corrupted system file, or a problematic app. The good news is you can almost always fix it yourself.

Force Restart Your Phone

This is the first and most effective step. Press and hold the Power button for at least 15 seconds. Keep holding until you feel the phone vibrate and see the logo disappear and reappear. This simple reboot can clear a temporary software glitch that's preventing a normal boot.

Wait and Let It Charge

If a force restart doesn't work, plug your phone into a charger. Use the official 90W HyperCharge adapter and cable if you have it, as it provides the most stable power. Sometimes, a deeply drained battery can cause boot issues. Leave it charging for at least 30 minutes before trying to turn it on again.

I've seen cases where the phone appears to be on the logo but is actually stuck in a low-power state. A good charge can give it the juice it needs to complete the boot process.

Boot into Safe Mode

If the phone boots but gets stuck after the logo, a third-party app might be the culprit. To check, you need to boot into Safe Mode. First, force restart the phone. As soon as the Xiaomi logo appears after the restart, press and hold the Volume Down button. Keep holding it until you see "Safe Mode" in the bottom corner of the screen.

In Safe Mode, all downloaded apps are disabled. If your phone boots successfully here, you know a recently installed app is causing the problem. You can then go to Settings and uninstall apps one by one to find the offender.

Clear Cache Partition in Recovery

Corrupted system cache can prevent a clean boot. To clear it, you need to enter the Recovery Mode menu. First, power off your phone completely. Then, press and hold the Power button and Volume Up button together until the Mi Recovery screen appears.

Use the volume buttons to navigate to Wipe Data and select it with the power button. On the next screen, choose Wipe Cache. This only deletes temporary system files and will not erase your personal data like photos or messages. After it completes, select Reboot.

Perform a Factory Reset (Erases Data)

Warning: This will delete all data on your phone. Only use this if nothing else works and you have a backup. From the same Mi Recovery menu, navigate to Wipe Data and this time select Wipe All Data. You'll need to type "yes" to confirm. This returns the phone to its original factory state.

If the phone boots normally after this, the problem was a severe software corruption. You can then restore your data from a previous backup during the setup process.

Use Mi Flash Tool with a Fastboot ROM

This is the most thorough software fix, equivalent to a clean reinstallation of HyperOS. You'll need a Windows PC and to download the official Fastboot ROM for your specific Xiaomi 15 model from the Mi Community website. This process, called flashing, completely rewrites the phone's firmware.

After installing the Mi Flash Tool on your PC and extracting the ROM, you boot your phone into Fastboot mode by holding Power and Volume Down. Connect it to the PC, load the ROM files in the tool, and select "Clean All" to flash. This will erase everything but often fixes persistent boot loops that recovery mode can't.

Check for Overheating Issues

The Snapdragon 8 Elite chip in the Xiaomi 15 is powerful but can run hot. If the phone overheated during a long gaming session or while charging, it might have triggered a thermal protection shutdown that corrupted data. After letting it cool down completely, try the force restart method again.

For future use, enabling Game Turbo mode can help manage performance and heat during intensive tasks, which might prevent similar issues.

Consider a Hardware Problem

If the phone does not respond to any button combinations, shows no signs of charging, or consistently fails during the Mi Flash process, the issue could be physical. Problems like a faulty logic board, damaged storage, or a loose internal connection from a drop can cause permanent boot failure. At this point, contacting Xiaomi support for repair would be the necessary step.
