If your POCO X7 Pro is refusing to send pictures or group texts, it's a frustrating roadblock. The issue usually comes down to a setting that's out of place or a temporary glitch in HyperOS. Let's get your multimedia messages flowing again.
Start With a Simple Restart
Before diving into settings, give your phone a fresh start. Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds until you feel it vibrate and the POCO logo appears. This force restart can clear out any minor software hiccups that might be blocking MMS.
Confirm Your Mobile Data Is On
MMS doesn't travel over your regular cellular signal or Wi-Fi like a standard text. It needs an active mobile data connection. Swipe down from the top of your screen twice to open the full Quick Settings panel and make sure the mobile data icon is lit up.
You can also go into Settings > Mobile network and toggle Mobile data off and back on. If you have a weak signal, try moving to a location with better reception, as poor coverage can stall message delivery.
Check the MMS Settings in Your Messages App
The stock messaging app on your X7 Pro has specific settings for multimedia. Open the Messages app, tap the three dots in the top right, and go to Settings > Advanced settings.
Here, ensure Auto-download MMS is enabled. If you're traveling, you might also want to turn on Auto-download MMS when roaming, but be mindful of potential data charges.
Verify Your APN Configuration
This is a very common culprit. The Access Point Name (APN) tells your phone exactly how to connect to your carrier's data and MMS services. An incorrect setting here will stop MMS in its tracks.
Go to Settings > Mobile network > SIM cards & mobile data. Select your active SIM card and tap Access Point Names (APN). You should see a list, with one selected (usually your carrier's name).
Tap on the selected APN to view its details. The exact values are unique to your carrier, but you need to make sure the MMSC (Multimedia Messaging Service Center) field is filled in correctly. If anything looks off or is missing, the safest move is to contact your mobile provider. They can give you the precise APN settings to enter or may even push them to your phone automatically.
Clear the Cache for Your Messaging App
Temporary files can get corrupted and cause all sorts of app misbehavior. Clearing the cache is a safe first step that won't delete your messages. Head to Settings > Apps > Manage apps.
Find and tap on Messages in the list. Then, go to Storage usage and tap Clear cache. Give it a try and see if MMS sends now. If the problem is really stubborn, you can tap Clear data next, but be warned: this will erase all your text message history within the app.
Look for a System Messaging Service
Sometimes, the issue lies deeper than the main app. HyperOS uses system services to handle messaging. In the same Manage apps screen, tap the three dots in the top right and select Show system apps.
Scroll through the now-longer list and look for services with names like IMS Service or Messaging Service. If you find one, tap into it, go to Storage usage, and try Clear cache. If the option is available and not grayed out, you can also try Clear data for that service, which resets its configuration.
Make Sure You Have Enough Storage
Your POCO X7 Pro needs a little free space to process and send media files. If your storage is critically low, it might fail silently. Go to Settings > About phone > Storage to see how much space you have left.
If you're running low, consider deleting some old message threads packed with videos or photos. Freeing up even a few hundred megabytes can often do the trick.
Update Your Phone's Software
An outdated version of HyperOS could have a bug that's interfering with MMS. Manufacturers release updates to fix these kinds of issues. Connect to Wi-Fi and go to Settings > About phone > HyperOS version.
Tap the Check for updates button. If an update is available, download and install it. Your phone will restart, and it's a good idea to test MMS again once it's back up.
Reset Your Network Settings
If you've tried everything else, this is a more comprehensive reset. It will wipe all your network-related data, including saved Wi-Fi passwords, Bluetooth pairings, and mobile network configurations, and set them back to default.
To do this, go to Settings > Additional settings > Backup & reset. Tap on Reset phone, then select Reset network settings. Confirm and let the phone reset. After it reboots, you'll need to reconnect to your Wi-Fi networks and re-pair Bluetooth devices, but your MMS issues may be resolved.
Try a Different Messaging App
If the problem persists only in the stock POCO Messages app, the issue might be with the app itself. Installing an alternative like Google Messages can be a great workaround and is often recommended for better RCS chat features anyway.
Download Google Messages from the Play Store. Once installed, open it and it will likely prompt you to set it as the default. You can also set this manually in Settings > Apps > Default apps > SMS app. Test sending an MMS with the new app to see if it goes through.
