When your POCO F6 gets stuck and won't download apps from the Play Store, it can bring your phone to a standstill. You're trying to install something new or update an essential app, and it just hangs on "Pending" or throws an error. This is a common Android headache, but on the F6, it's usually something simple you can fix yourself.
Let's go through the fixes, starting with the quick checks you should always try first.
Check Your Connection and Restart
First, make sure your internet is actually working. Pull down the notification shade on your POCO F6 and look at the Wi-Fi or mobile data icon. Sometimes, even if it shows you're connected, the connection might be weak or unstable.
Try opening a webpage in Chrome to test it. If pages load slowly or not at all, that's your problem. Toggle your connection off and back on. For Wi-Fi, you can also try forgetting the network and reconnecting.
Next, give your phone a fresh start. Press and hold the power button, then tap "Restart." This clears out any temporary glitches in the system or the Play Store app that might be blocking downloads. I'd start with this one, as it solves a lot of random issues.
Verify Date, Time, and Storage
Google's servers are picky about time. If your phone's clock is off, it can silently break app downloads. Go to Settings > Additional settings > Date & time on your POCO F6. Make sure "Set time automatically" is switched on.
Also, quickly check your storage. The POCO F6 doesn't have expandable storage, so if you're near capacity, downloads will fail. Go to Settings > About phone > Storage. If you're below 1GB of free space, you'll need to clear out some old photos, videos, or unused apps.
Clear the Google Play Store's Cache
The Play Store saves temporary data to run faster, but this cache can get corrupted. Clearing it is a safe first step that doesn't delete your apps or data.
Open Settings > Apps > Manage apps. Find "Google Play Store" in the list and tap on it. Tap on "Storage usage" at the bottom, then hit "Clear cache." Go back to the Play Store and try your download again.
If that doesn't work, you can take the next step and clear the Play Store's data. From the same storage menu, tap "Clear data." This will reset the app to its default state, so you might need to sign in again, but it often kicks downloads back into gear.
Clear Google Play Services Data
This is the engine behind the Play Store. If it's acting up, nothing will download. Head back to Settings > Apps > Manage apps. Tap the three-dot menu in the top right and select "Show system apps."
Now find "Google Play Services" in the list. Tap it, go to "Storage usage," and hit "Manage storage." Here, tap "Clear all data." Confirm the warning. This is a deeper reset than just the cache and frequently resolves stubborn download hangs on HyperOS.
Check for POCO-Specific Software Updates
Sometimes, a bug in the phone's own software can interfere with Google services. POCO releases updates to fix these kinds of issues. Make sure you're running the latest version.
Go to Settings > About phone > HyperOS version. Tap the "Check for updates" button. If an update is available, install it. Your phone will reboot. This is especially worth doing if the problem started after you got a notification for a new system update.
Review Your Download Manager
The Download Manager is a system app that handles all downloads, including apps. It needs to be enabled and running smoothly. In Settings > Apps > Manage apps, tap "Show system apps" again.
Search for "Download Manager." If the "Enable" button is showing, tap it. If it's already enabled, tap on it, go to "Storage usage," and clear its cache and data, just like you did for the Play Store.
Switch Between Wi-Fi and Mobile Data
Your Wi-Fi network might be the culprit. Some networks, like public or corporate Wi-Fi, block the specific ports the Play Store uses. The easiest test is to switch off Wi-Fi and use your mobile data for a minute.
Pull down the notification shade and tap the Wi-Fi icon to turn it off. Make sure mobile data is on (the 4G/5G icon should appear). Now try the download. If it works on mobile data, you know the issue is with your Wi-Fi network's settings.
Remove and Re-add Your Google Account
This refreshes the connection between your phone and Google's servers. Go to Settings > Accounts & sync. Tap on your Google account, then tap "Remove account" at the bottom. Don't worry, this doesn't delete anything from Google itself.
After removing it, tap "Add account" and sign back in with the same Google details. Once it's re-added, open the Play Store and try your download. This process can clear up account-specific sync errors.
Check App Permissions for Play Services
Google Play Services needs certain permissions to function. Let's verify them. Go to Settings > Apps > Manage apps > Google Play Services (remember to show system apps).
Tap on "Permissions." Ensure that "Storage" permission is allowed. While you're here, also check for any battery optimization settings that might be restricting it in the background.
Factory Reset (The Last Step)
If you've tried everything else and your POCO F6 still won't download a single app, a factory reset is the final option. This will erase all your personal data, apps, and settings, returning the phone to how it was out of the box.
You must back up everything important first. Use Google's backup in your system settings or manually transfer photos and files to a computer. To reset, go to Settings > About phone > Factory reset. Follow the prompts. After the phone reboots, set it up as new and log into the Play Store immediately to test a download.
