Sony's May PlayStation Plus Game Catalog delivers its strongest lineup in months, headlined by Star Wars Outlaws and Red Dead Redemption 2, two open-world blockbusters arriving on the same day. The full catalog drops May 19 for Extra and Premium subscribers, per Sony's official announcement. Premium members also get the 1997 arcade classic Time Crisis with newly added gyro aiming.

Star Wars Outlaws arrives on PS5 after a redemption arc that transformed it from a mixed launch into arguably the best recent Star Wars game. Ubisoft's open-world adventure puts players in the boots of scoundrel Kay Vess as she navigates the galaxy's crime syndicates, taking contracts and dodging the Empire.

Post-launch patches addressed the stealth sections that drew criticism at launch, making Outlaws a far smoother experience than the 2024 version Polygon described as having "wonky stealth sections." The timing connects to broader Star Wars momentum. Outlaws hits PS Plus just as The Mandalorian and Grogu hits theaters, the first Star Wars movie since 2019's The Rise of Skywalker.

Red Dead Redemption 2 returns to the service after cycling between PS Plus and Game Pass in previous years. It arrives as the PS4 version, still capped at 30fps with no current-gen patch despite years of rumors.

Subscribers get access to Red Dead Online alongside the single-player campaign, where Arthur Morgan's story of loyalty and survival plays out across America's fading frontier. The supporting lineup is unusually deep. Bramble: The Mountain King brings a dark Nordic folktale to PS5 and PS4, sending young Olle on a rescue mission through a world of twisted creatures. The Thaumaturge offers a story-driven RPG set in early 20th-century Warsaw, where protagonist Wiktor Szulski summons mystical demons called salutors in turn-based tactical combat.

Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn, a Souls-lite from Ashen developer A44, joins alongside Broken Sword, Shadows of the Templar: Reforged, a substantially enhanced version of the classic adventure game. Italian folklore-inspired Soulslike Enotria: The Last Song rounds out the Extra/Premium catalog. For Premium subscribers, Time Crisis brings the light gun arcade experience to modern consoles. The PS1 version returns with console-exclusive special stages and gyro aiming support, letting players aim by tilting their controller.

May's Essential tier games, EA Sports FC 26, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, and Nine Sols, are also available for download this month.
