Elden Ring Tarnished Edition lands on Nintendo Switch 2 on August 28, publisher Bandai Namco announced Thursday, nearly a year after the port was delayed over performance concerns. The $79.99 package bundles the base 2022 game with the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, two new starting classes, character armor sets, and customization options for Torrent, players' spectral steed. Pre-orders are live at retail and on the Nintendo eShop.
Here's the twist: the new cosmetic content won't stay exclusive to Switch 2. Bandai Namco confirmed the Tarnished Pack DLC launches on the same day for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
Pricing hasn't been announced, but sources expect a $5 price point. Switch 2 buyers get it included. The road to launch has been messy. Originally announced alongside the Switch 2 reveal in April 2025, Elden Ring was set to ship later that year. But hands-on demos at Gamescom told a different story. IGN called the handheld mode "a disaster," citing significant frame rate drops while exploring and a confusing button layout.
Bandai Namco delayed the port to 2026 in October 2025, citing the need for "game performance adjustments." By March, follow-up previews showed marked improvement. The extra development time appears to have done the job.
Elden Ring remains one of the most celebrated games of the generation, with over 30 million copies sold worldwide and more than 400 Game of the Year nominations. Shadow of the Erdtree added another 10 million sales after its June 2024 launch.
