When your Huawei Pura 70 Pro won't charge on a wireless pad, it's frustrating, especially when you know it supports super-fast 80W speeds. The issue is almost always a simple fix related to alignment, accessories, or a software hiccup.
Center It on the Charger
Wireless charging needs the coils inside your phone and the pad to line up perfectly. Place your Pura 70 Pro dead center on the charging surface. The screen should light up with a charging animation or show the battery icon with a lightning bolt. Being even slightly off can prevent the connection from starting.
Take Off the Phone Case
Your case is the most common culprit. Thick, rugged cases or any case with metal plates, rings, or built-in card slots will block the wireless signal. Pop the case off and try charging the bare phone. If it works, you'll need a case specifically advertised as compatible with wireless charging.
Use the Right Wireless Charger
This is critical for the Pura 70 Pro. To hit the advertised 80W wireless SuperCharge speeds, you must use Huawei's proprietary SuperCharge wireless charger. While it will work with standard Qi pads, it will charge much slower, and some older or low-power Qi pads might not initiate charging at all. Make sure you're using the correct charger for the performance you expect.
Check the Power Source
That 80W wireless charger needs a strong power adapter to function. Ensure the charger is plugged into the wall with the original power brick that came with it. Using a weak or underpowered USB-C adapter can cause the charger to fail or deliver power inconsistently, which will stop your phone from charging.
Force Restart Your Phone
A quick software refresh can clear up glitches that prevent the charging system from engaging. Simply press and hold the Power button on the side of your Pura 70 Pro for about 10 seconds. Keep holding until you see the Huawei logo appear, then release. Once it boots up, try placing it on the pad again.
Clean the Phone and Charger
Dust, lint, or any debris on the back glass of your phone or the surface of the charging pad creates a gap. This tiny gap can be enough to break the charging connection. Wipe both surfaces clean with a dry, soft cloth. I've seen this solve the problem more times than I can count.
Update Your EMUI Software
Go to Settings > System & updates > Software update and tap 'Check for updates'. Huawei releases updates that can fix bugs, including ones related to power management and wireless charging. Keeping your phone updated ensures you have all the latest stability improvements.
Let It Cool Down
Wireless charging generates more heat than wired charging. If your Pura 70 Pro gets too hot from use, sunlight, or a warm environment, it will automatically pause charging to protect the battery. If the back of the phone feels warm to the touch, take it off the charger, let it cool for a few minutes, and then try again.
Test With a Different Setup
If you have access to another wireless charger, try it with your phone. Also, try your Huawei wireless charger with a different phone if possible. This tells you where the problem lies. If your phone works on another pad, your charger is faulty. If your phone doesn't work on any pad, the issue is with the phone's hardware or software.
