So your Huawei Pura 70 Pro won't charge. You've plugged in the 100W SuperCharge brick, maybe tried a different cable, and the screen stays stubbornly dark. This is a frustrating but common problem, and you can almost always fix it yourself without a trip to a service center.

Whether you're dealing with a USB-C port that won't connect, a wireless charger that's not working, or a phone that seems completely dead, these steps will help you get it powered up again. We'll start with the quickest fixes and work our way through.

Force Restart Your Pura 70 Pro

This should always be your first move. A force restart clears out any temporary software glitches that might be interfering with the charging system. It's quick and solves more problems than you'd think.

For the Huawei Pura 70 Pro, just press and hold the Power button for about 10 seconds. Keep holding it until you see the Huawei logo appear on the screen, then release. Once it boots back up, plug it in and check for the charging indicator.

Clean the USB-C Charging Port

This is the single most common fix for charging issues on any phone. Over months of use, pocket lint, dust, and debris get packed into that USB-C port. Eventually, there's so much gunk that your cable can't make a proper connection.

Turn your phone off first for safety. Then, grab a flashlight and take a close look inside the port. If you see a buildup of lint, use a wooden or plastic toothpick to gently scrape it out. Avoid metal tools, as they can damage the delicate gold contacts inside.

You can also try a quick blast of compressed air from a can, holding it a few inches away. Give the phone a gentle tap with the port facing down to dislodge any stubborn particles. Once it's clean, try plugging in the cable again.

Check Your Cable and Charger

You need to figure out if the problem is with your accessories or the phone itself. The best way is to swap each component one by one. Start by trying a different USB-C cable, preferably one you know works.

Next, test with a different wall adapter. The Pura 70 Pro supports up to 100W wired charging, but it should still charge with any decent USB-C PD adapter. Also, try plugging into a different wall outlet or a USB port on a computer.

Finally, remove your phone case. Some thicker cases, especially those with metal plates or misaligned cutouts, can prevent the charging cable from seating fully into the port.

Try Huawei's 80W Wireless Charging

If wired charging isn't working, try placing your Pura 70 Pro on a wireless charger. This is a great way to diagnose whether the issue is with the USB-C port or something else. The phone supports standard Qi wireless charging, but for the full 80W SuperCharge speed, you need Huawei's proprietary wireless charger.

Make sure the charger is plugged into a powerful enough adapter and that your phone is centered on the charging pad. Remove any thick cases or magnetic accessories, as they can block the charging coil. If wireless charging works but the USB-C port doesn't, the port itself likely needs attention.

Check for Software Updates

Huawei releases updates for EMUI (and its underlying HarmonyOS) that often include bug fixes for power management and charging. A software glitch could be preventing your phone from recognizing that it's plugged in.

Go to Settings > System & updates > Software update and tap on 'Check for updates'. Download and install any available update. If your phone won't turn on at all, you might need to charge it via wireless for a bit first to get enough power to boot.

Wait If the Battery Is Fully Drained

If your Pura 70 Pro's battery has hit absolute zero, it won't show any sign of life immediately when you plug it in. This is normal behavior for lithium-ion batteries. Leave it connected to the wall charger (not a slow computer USB port) for at least 30 minutes.

You should eventually see a battery icon or a charging indicator on the screen. If there's still nothing after half an hour, try a force restart while it remains plugged in. Sometimes this kick-starts the process.

Inspect Your Battery Health

Over time, all batteries degrade. While the Pura 70 Pro has a robust battery, heavy use can wear it down. EMUI has a built-in tool to check its status. Go to Settings > Battery > More battery settings.

Look for an option like "Battery health" or "Maximum capacity." If this number is significantly below 80%, the battery may be struggling to hold a charge properly and could be the root cause of your issues. This is less common on a newer device like the Pura 70 Pro but worth checking.

Charge with the Phone Powered Off

Sometimes, a background app or process can interfere with the charging circuit. A simple test is to turn your phone completely off, then plug it in. If it starts charging normally with the screen off, you know a software issue or a misbehaving app was the culprit.

This method also typically allows for the fastest possible charging speed, as no system resources are being used by the screen or apps.

Perform a Factory Reset (Last Resort)

If you've tried every other step and your Pura 70 Pro still refuses to charge correctly, a deep software issue might be to blame. A factory reset will wipe your phone back to its original state. This will erase all your data, so ensure you have a recent backup via Huawei Cloud or your computer before proceeding.

To reset, go to Settings > System & updates > Reset > Factory data reset. After the reset is complete, set up the phone minimally and test charging immediately. If it works, you can restore your backup. If the charging problem persists even after a reset, the issue is almost certainly hardware-related.
