How to Use Microsoft Edge Password Manager

You open Edge expecting your saved logins to appear, but the controls are not where older tutorials say they are. Current Microsoft Edge puts consumer password tools under Passwords and autofill and Microsoft Password Manager, not Wallet or Authenticator autofill. Use these current paths to save, view, sync, check, import, export, and protect your passwords without following retired advice.

1. Set up Edge and turn on password sync

Start here when you want Edge to remember passwords on more than one device. Microsoft Password Manager in Edge works with a personal Microsoft account profile, and synced passwords depend on the Passwords sync setting.

When sync is on, synced items are cleared across synced devices.

9. Avoid retired Edge password instructions

Skip older instructions that send you to Microsoft Authenticator autofill, the Microsoft Autofill Chrome Extension, Microsoft Wallet, Custom Primary Password, or Windows Credential Manager as the main Edge password surface. Microsoft Authenticator autofill was discontinued, the Autofill Chrome Extension was retired, Wallet is retired in Edge, and Custom Primary Password has been removed for current users.
