Can't find the sign-out option in YouTube? The controls depend on your device: iPhone has a signed-out viewing option, while Android requires removing your Google account from the device. Here’s how to sign out on your phone, computer, or TV, including a device you no longer have with you.
Sign out on your computer
Watching at youtube.com in a desktop browser? These steps work with both free and Premium accounts.
Open youtube.com in the browser where you’re signed in.
Click your profile picture in the top corner.
Select Sign out.
On iPhone or iPad, use YouTube signed out
This signs you out of the YouTube app. To take the saved account off the device as well, use the account-removal steps below.
Open the YouTube app.
Tap your profile picture.
Tap Accounts at the top. If you see Switch accounts instead, tap that.
Select Use YouTube signed out.
Remove your account on Android
Open the YouTube app. Before you continue, know that this removes the selected Google account from your device and signs it out of other Google apps, including Gmail and Maps.
Tap your profile picture.
Tap Accounts at the top.
Select Manage accounts.
Select the Google account you want to remove.
Tap Remove account.
To keep Gmail and Maps signed in, use the temporary Incognito viewing option below, which leaves your account signed in.
Watching on a TV or game console
On your supported smart TV, streaming device, or game console, open YouTube.
Select your profile picture in the left menu to open the accounts page.
Select your account.
Choose Sign out.
To remove the saved account too, select your account on the accounts page.
Choose Remove Account.
If your TV requires a Parent code for account removal or signed-out viewing, enter it when prompted.
If you can’t complete the sign-out on the TV, use the remote sign-out options below.
Remove a saved account from an iPhone or iPad
Use account removal when you want the saved account off the device too. This is a separate option from Use YouTube signed out.
Open the YouTube app.
Tap your profile picture.
Open Accounts at the top. If you see Switch accounts instead, tap that.
Tap Manage accounts on this device.
Choose Remove from this device under the relevant account. Other saved accounts remain available.
Gmail offers another route on iPhone and iPad. Removing the account there also signs it out of YouTube and other Google apps.
Open the Gmail app.
Tap your Profile at the top right.
Select Manage accounts on this device.
Tap Remove from this device for the account.
If your browser is still signed in
Try Google’s shared account menu. Signing out there also affects other Google websites in that browser session.
Open google.com in the browser where YouTube is signed in.
Select your profile image or initial.
Choose Sign out or Sign out of all accounts. In Safari on iPhone or iPad, tap Sign out.
Repeat the sign-out in other browsers or browser profiles you used.
For desktop Chrome, Google also recommends signing out of the browser profile to sign out of Google websites.
Click Profile at the top right of Chrome.
Select Sign out of Chrome.
To clear the remaining local sign-in data after signing out of Chrome, open More.
Select Delete browsing data.
Choose All time.
Select Cookies and other site data. This clears browser session data, including sign-in cookies for other websites. It does not sign out the native YouTube app.
Click Delete data.
If you’re still signed in, use your Google Account’s device list below to sign out of the relevant session.
Sign out of a device remotely
Left YouTube signed in on a device you can’t access? Use your Google Account.
- 1.Open myaccount.google.com.
- 2.Select Security & sign-in.
- 3.Under Your devices, select Manage all devices. You can also open the device list directly.
- 4.Select the relevant device or session.
- 5.Choose Sign out. Repeat for every relevant session if several share the same device name.
- 6.For a YouTube on TV connection, an alternative is to open your Google Account permissions, select YouTube on TV, then choose Remove Access. This signs your account out of all devices using that connection.
Incognito and Guest are temporary viewing options
Use these options for temporary viewing while keeping your account signed in or available. To end account access, use one of the sign-out or removal methods above.
In a YouTube mobile app that offers Incognito, tap your profile picture.
Open Accounts at the top.
Select Turn on Incognito. Your account stays signed in. After more than 90 minutes of inactivity, Incognito ends and YouTube returns to the previous account.
On a TV, select your profile picture in the left-hand navigation.
Open Accounts.
Select Guest. Existing accounts remain available.
If YouTube opens with Who’s Watching?, select Guest on that screen instead.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will closing YouTube or restarting my phone sign me out?
Closing YouTube, restarting, or turning off the device is not a sign-out method. For a login made in a private browser session, close every private window to end that session. This leaves any regular-browser session signed in.
Can I sign out of every YouTube device by changing my password?
Changing your Google Account password signs you out of many sessions, but it does not guarantee a universal sign-out. Google excludes devices used to verify your identity, some devices with authorized third-party apps, and authorized home devices.
Does disconnecting casting sign me out of YouTube on the TV?
No. Disconnecting casting or unlinking TV-code devices ends the connection between devices. It does not sign the YouTube account out of the TV.
Does removing every Google TV profile just sign me out?
No. Removing every profile factory-resets the Google TV device. Use YouTube’s account controls for an ordinary YouTube sign-out.
