Instagram does not have a built-in unfollower history, alert, or report. You cannot open one screen and see a complete list of people who unfollowed you. You can still check whether one person follows you now, or compare Instagram data exports to find changes over time.

Check one person from your Followers list

This fixes the fastest question: whether one account follows you right now.

Open the Instagram app and tap your profile picture.

Tap Followers.

Tap Search and enter the account name or username.

When the account is missing from your Followers list, that account does not currently follow you.

Look for the Follows you label

The most common cause of confusion is that Instagram shows current follower status, not an unfollow date.

Open the Instagram app and tap Search.

Find the person's account and open their profile.

Look for the relationship label, such as Follows you.

When Follows you is missing, the account does not currently follow you. Some account and privacy states hide that label, so use your Followers search when you need a cleaner check.

Check from Instagram on the web

Use the browser version when you are on a computer or want a bigger search view.

  1. 1.Open Instagram.com in your browser and sign in.
  2. 2.Go to your Profile.
  3. 3.Open Followers.
  4. 4.Use Search to enter the account name or username.
  5. 5.Treat a missing account as the answer: that person does not currently follow you.

Use your Instagram data export for real comparisons

For a larger answer, use Instagram's export tool. In the app, tap your profile picture, open Menu, then choose Settings and activity, Accounts Center, Your information and permissions, Export your information, and Create export.

On Instagram.com, open More, then Settings, Accounts Center, Your information and permissions, Export your information, and Create export.

After you download the export, open the followers and following data. This works going forward only: you need an older export or saved follower list to compare against a newer one.

Compare two follower lists locally

This fixes the bigger question: who disappeared from your followers list between two points in time.

Create one Instagram export now through Export your information and keep it.

Create another export later through Export your information.

Open the followers data from both exports.

Paste the usernames into a spreadsheet or text-diff tool.

Subtract the newer list from the older list to get your candidate changes: accounts that were in the older followers list and are missing from the newer one.

Verify each candidate before you call it an unfollow. Instagram usernames can be changed from Edit profile, so a renamed account looks like a removal in a username-only comparison, and deleted or deactivated accounts drop off the list too. Search the account in your Followers list or open the profile to confirm it still exists and no longer follows you.

Be careful with unfollower apps

Use a third-party comparison tool only when it works from your downloaded Instagram export and does not ask for your Instagram password. The clean flow is Export your information, Create export, download the file, import the export into the comparison tool, then review accounts missing from the newer followers list.

Do not use login-based unfollower apps, scripts, browser automation, private APIs, or old Instagram API-style methods as Instagram fixes. Use the official export-and-compare method instead.

If this method fails, use a local spreadsheet or text-diff tool so your Instagram login stays out of the process.

Remove access for old tracker apps

Open the Instagram app and tap your profile picture.

Open Menu, then go to Settings and activity.

Open Website permissions or Apps and websites.

Tap Active.

Choose Remove next to any third-party tracker app or website you no longer use.

Uninstall login-based tracker apps from your phone after removing connected access: on iPhone, touch and hold the app, then tap Remove App and Delete App; on Android, open Settings, Apps, select the app, and tap Uninstall.

Quick tip: removing an app will not show past unfollowers, but it does clean up old account access.

Creator and supervised account options

The most common cause of disappointment is expecting account tools to name the exact people who unfollowed you.

If you have a professional, creator, or business account, open the Instagram app and go to Professional dashboard, then Insights, then Audience or Followers. These screens show follower growth or loss counts, but they do not identify usernames.

For supervised teen accounts, a parent or guardian can open Supervision or Family Center, select the supervised teen account, and review current Followers or Following. To spot changes, save or compare the list manually over time.

Voice assistants, Meta AI, Siri, Google Assistant, and hardware buttons do not have a supported command that reveals Instagram unfollower history.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can Instagram show me a list of everyone who unfollowed me?

No. Instagram does not provide a built-in unfollower history, alert, or report. You can check current follower status or compare exported follower lists over time.

Can I find out when someone unfollowed me?

Not from Instagram's current follower tools. The app and website show whether someone follows you now, not the date they stopped following.

Do Instagram Insights show who unfollowed me?

No. Professional Dashboard and Insights show aggregate follower growth or loss counts, but they do not name the accounts that unfollowed you.

Is it safe to use an unfollower tracker app?

Avoid tools that ask for your Instagram password or automate Instagram access. Use tools that analyze a downloaded Instagram export, or compare the lists locally yourself.
