You clear your Amazon browsing history, but an unwanted recommendation or shopping conversation is still there. Amazon keeps viewed products, recommendation preferences, and shopping chats in separate places, and your browser keeps its own history too. Start with the record you want removed, then use the matching controls below; clearing one does not erase the others or your orders.

Start with your Amazon browsing history

Open Amazon’s browsing-history editor while signed in to your Amazon account. Amazon also links to it as Your Browsing History in its Privacy Notice.

To remove a single viewed item, select Remove from view below it. To clear everything, select the settings icon, then Remove all items from view.

To stop Amazon from adding new items, select the settings icon in the right corner, then More settings, and turn Browsing History off.

This editor covers the items you viewed. Browser records, recommendation preferences, and shopping chats each have their own controls below.

Clear Amazon visits from Chrome

This removes browser-held visits, leaving Amazon’s independently stored account history untouched.

On desktop Chrome, open More. Select Delete browsing data. On Windows and Linux, Ctrl+Shift+Delete also opens these controls.

Choose the period to clear, such as All time. Select Browsing history. Select any additional data categories you want removed.

Click Delete data. This clears the selected categories for the chosen period across your browser history, including visits to other websites.

Using Chrome on Android? Open More. Tap Delete browsing data. Choose the period to clear.

Open More options. Select the history and data categories you want removed. Tap Delete data.

On iPhone or iPad, open Chrome’s More menu. Tap Delete Browsing Data. Set Time Range to the period you want cleared.

Open Browsing Data. Select the history and other data categories you want to delete. Tap Confirm. Finish with Delete Browsing Data.

Erase Safari visits on iPhone or Mac

Use Safari’s controls when the Amazon pages you want removed appear in your browser history. Amazon’s own account history stays untouched.

On iPhone, open Settings. Select Apps. Open Safari.

Tap Clear History and Website Data. Choose the timeframe to remove. Tap Clear History.

For a cleanup limited to selected Amazon pages, open Safari’s Start Page. Tap the History button. Tap the More button.

Choose Select Websites. Select the Amazon pages you want removed. Tap the Trash button.

On a Mac, open Safari’s History menu. Choose Clear History. Select how far back to clear. This also removes history from other Apple devices using the same iCloud Safari history.

Remove browser records in Edge or Firefox

In desktop Edge, turn off sync first if you want deletion to affect only the current device. Open Settings and more. Select Settings.

Open Privacy, search, and services. Go to Clear browsing data. Select Choose what to clear beside Clear browsing data now.

Set Time range. Select Browsing history and any other categories you want removed. Click Clear now.

For an Amazon-specific cleanup in desktop Firefox, open the Menu. Select History. Open Manage history.

Search for Amazon in Search History. Right-click the relevant site. Choose Forget About This Site. This also removes that site’s cookies and other browser data.

Select Forget. Use these controls for browser-held records; Amazon’s independently stored account history needs its own cleanup.

Stop unwanted items from shaping recommendations

Recommendation inputs are managed separately from browsing history, so clearing viewed products does not clear those preferences.

Open Improve Your Recommendations from Amazon’s Privacy Notice. Disable Use this item for recommendations beside the relevant item. This changes recommendation inputs without deleting search terms, orders, or browsing records.

For broader preferences where About You is available, open the Me tab in the Amazon Shopping app or on mobile web. Select your name. Open About You.

Review the information used for personalization. Update or remove the preferences you no longer want Amazon to use.

On desktop, hover over your name above Account & Lists. Click your name or Who's shopping?. Select your profile.

Open About You. Update or remove your shopping preferences there. This manages personalization derived partly from searches and shopping conversations; it does not clear every underlying record.

Keep future browsing from being linked to your account

On Amazon’s desktop website, open Account & Lists. Select Sign Out. In a mobile browser, select your name instead. Tap Sign Out.

Block cookies in the browser you will use. Amazon specifies signing out and blocking cookies together to prevent future browsing from being linked to your account. Blocking cookies prevents cart, checkout, and other features that depend on signing in.

For Safari on iPhone, open Settings. Choose Apps. Select Safari.

Open Advanced. Enable Block All Cookies. Confirm with Block All. This removes existing cookies and site data and affects all websites, including Amazon.

Use this approach for future browsing; it does not erase history already stored.

Delete shopping chats and manage voice requests

If your searches happened in Alexa for Shopping, use Alexa’s history controls. Amazon directs conversations from the shopping experience combining Rufus and Alexa to this separate history area.

Open Amazon’s Alexa privacy settings in your browser. Open Review Alexa History. Review the relevant recordings, transcripts, and typed requests.

Delete the shopping interactions you want removed using the history-management controls. Amazon says deleting Alexa chats does not necessarily remove other interaction records, including records of products searched for. Repeat the cleanup separately for each marketplace if you have changed marketplaces.

To use the Alexa app instead, open More. Select Alexa Privacy. Open Review Alexa History. The UK interface described by Amazon uses Review Voice History.

In that UK interface, choose a date range or filter by device or profile. Select the chats to delete. For ongoing cleanup, configure automatic deletion in Alexa privacy settings for three or 18 months. The period runs from the last request in a chat.

To stop saving voice recordings, choose that option in Alexa privacy settings. Transcripts and typed requests remain until the chat has been inactive for 30 days.

To stop future voice shopping in the Amazon Shopping app, open the You tab. Select Settings. Open Permissions. Select Microphone.

Turn off Shop with voice. This stops future voice shopping; review and manage past voice-shopping transcripts in Review Alexa History. Amazon automatically deletes the audio recording after processing these shopping requests.

Request broader personal-data deletion

Use Amazon’s privacy channel for a broader deletion request, whose scope depends on your jurisdiction and request; account closure is a separate action that permanently closes the account across associated Amazon services.

  1. 1.Open Amazon’s Privacy Notice.
  2. 2.Follow Data Privacy Queries to Amazon’s personal-data request page.
  3. 3.Request deletion under your applicable personal-data rights, describing the information you want removed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I delete only Amazon entries from Chrome on Android?

Yes. Open More, then History. Locate an Amazon entry and select Remove. For several entries, touch and hold one, select the others, then choose Remove. This deletes browser-history entries.

Does Silk private browsing keep Amazon visits out of browser history?

In Silk interfaces offering New Private Tab, open that option from the menu. Close the private tab when finished to remove its visited pages from browser history. Websites, including Amazon, still see activity, and existing Amazon account history remains.

Can Alexa+ delete my voice history when I ask aloud?

No. Amazon’s voice-deletion commands do not work with Alexa+ or Amazon Kids-enabled devices. Use the Alexa app or web privacy controls instead.

Will reinstalling the Amazon Shopping app erase my account history?

Reinstalling Amazon Shopping is not an account-history deletion method. Manage account records through Amazon’s browsing-history editor, Alexa history controls, or personal-data privacy channel.
