How to Make a Fletching Table in Minecraft

A Fletching Table recipe only works in the full 3x3 Crafting Table grid. You need 2 Flint and 4 Planks, and the pattern takes two adjacent columns. Here is the fastest way to make one in current Minecraft Java Edition 26.2 and Bedrock Edition 26.40, plus the clean alternatives when crafting is not the route you want.

Make It at a Crafting Table

Use this recipe in a normal Survival world.

1.Collect 2 Flint and 4 Planks.
2.Open a Crafting Table.
3.Place Flint and Flint in the top row, using any two adjacent columns.
4.Place Planks and Planks in the second row directly under the Flint.
5.Place Planks and Planks in the third row, then take the Fletching Table output.

Use the Recipe Book Instead

The Recipe Book is the faster route once Minecraft recognizes that you have the right ingredients. Open a Crafting Table, open the Recipe Book, then search for Fletching Table or browse the available recipes.

Select Fletching Table so the 2 Flint and 4 Planks move into the crafting grid. Select Craft, then take the Fletching Table from the output slot.

If this method fails, craft it manually in the 3x3 grid instead. The recipe is two columns wide and three rows tall, so it does not fit in the 2x2 inventory grid.

Grab One in Creative Mode

This method applies in Creative Mode on Java Edition and Bedrock Edition. Bedrock includes Windows, Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, mobile, and Chromebook; Java runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux.

Villages give you a Fletching Table without using the recipe.

1.Find a village in a Survival or Creative world where villages generate.
2.Look for a fletcher or job-site area.
3.Locate the Fletching Table block.
4.Break it by hand or with any tool.
5.Collect the dropped Fletching Table, then place it where you want it.

Use Give With Cheats On

The fastest command method is /give. In Bedrock single-player, open Settings, go to Game, and turn on Allow Cheats. In a new Java world, turn on Allow Commands. In an existing Java world, open World Options and enable Allow Commands.

Open Chat with T or your platform chat control. Run /give @s minecraft:fletching_table 1 to add one Fletching Table to yourself.

If this method fails, enable cheats or commands and check your permissions. On multiplayer, you need operator or equivalent permission.

Place One With Setblock

The most common cause is trying to craft the Fletching Table in the 2x2 inventory grid.

Open a Crafting Table and use the 3x3 grid. The recipe takes two adjacent columns across three rows, with Flint on the top row and Planks in the two rows below.

Check your ingredients again: 2 Flint and 4 Planks. Any two adjacent columns work, but the vertical pattern still matters.

Ignore Older Arrow Crafting Advice

Some older or third-party instructions claim the Fletching Table has a working arrow-crafting interface. Current vanilla Minecraft does not support that as a vendor-backed feature.

Mojang describes Fletching Table uses as villager job-site assignment, furnace fuel, and a note-block bass sound. For making the block itself, use the crafting recipe, Creative inventory, village pickup, or commands.
